23 ~Velma’s POV I exhaled sharply, leaning back into the seat. “No. Not now,” I whispered. “I cannot deal with him now.” The streets stretched on, buildings passing by like silent witnesses. My fingers hovered over the phone for a brief moment, tempted to respond to him to stop texting me, but that wouldn’t be possible because we were partners. The hotel finally came into view. I felt a small surge of relief. I let out a long breath as the car pulled up. The driver opened the door, and I stepped out. I walked into the hotel, the soft carpet under my feet warm against my slippers. And there he was, Jaden, sitting on the floor near the reception desk, busy with some small toys the staff had probably brought him.
