Parody of 'Where I'm From' by George Lyon

214 Words
I am from African heat from Poppin sweets, and senseless fights in the middle of the road I am from the kitchen rules that no one follows after a week I am from the scentless flowers, the cherries from the tree in my grandparents' front yard I am from family outings and arguing in the car about where we want to eat, from waiting for daddy to shout 'Are you ready? " even though he is the last to be done I am from getting puff puff every morning as a bribe for doing our chores, from begging our uncles to climb the trees to shake down some fruits From ojuju and the boogey man from the fear of third mainland bridge I am from Friday prayers, pleading for ice cream from mum as she talks with our aunt for hours I'm from killing the ram beside the well, from playing tinko with my cousins till dawn From family gathering two times a year excluding the occasional weddings and otherwise  I am from pap and moi moi to start my weekends right I am from Wondering if the great wall of china is enough space to draw out family tree I am from family pictures in the giant shoebox yet scattered around the house
