Chapter 5 Raiden Levi Lazarus Ashyra noticed that Luna had entered a room, seemingly unconcerned about leaving her outside. Ashyra, on the other hand, was confident that her two friends had escaped the danger. Without hesitating, she started running, leaving the zombies behind. Ashyra was aware of her own limitations, having a weaker body compared to the one she had in another world. Despite her weakness, she managed to take down five zombies. The zombies were spreading, making it difficult for Ashyra to find a hiding place. The dorm building was vast, with two elevators and numerous hallways. Many zombies were around, and she wasn't the only one running; others were screaming for help. From a distance, Ashyra saw a large group of zombies and considered changing her course. However, another group of zombies was approaching her location due to a man running towards her. Ashyra quickly changed direction, turning right down the hallway and continuing to run. She remembered there were stairs at the end of the hallway she was heading to, and that was her plan. But a hand suddenly grabbed her from behind. The hand pulled the pink hoodie jacket Ashyra was wearing. Startled, Ashyra was surprised at how easily she was pulled by the person behind her. Almost effortlessly, the two crashed into a dorm room, with the man quickly getting up and running towards the door. He forcefully closed the door, effectively severing the entire arm of one of the zombies trying to enter the room. Ashyra, with a serious expression, chose not to get up from her lying position, catching her breath. She was ready to relax, having witnessed what the man did, but she quickly stood up when she heard that there was something else in the room besides her and the man. Ashyra stood up, holding the mop stick tightly. From her vantage point, she could see the living room in front, the kitchen seemingly to the right, and three closed bedrooms to the left. Ashyra's keen hearing suggested there was something else inside the room. A zombie suddenly emerged from the kitchen. Ashyra raised the dirty mop and confronted the zombie. "Grrraaaa!" The creature attacked suddenly. Ashyra adjusted her stance and confidently thrust the mop handle into the female zombie's forehead. The mop hit its mark, and the zombie died instantly. 'It's just a weak zombie,' Ashyra thought to herself. "Ash, are you okay?" Ashyra suddenly looked at the man behind her. Although Ashyra's face did not show any signs of surprise, she looked at the man with questioning eyes. The man was tall, with brown hair, and appeared to be half-Filipino. He was handsome, wearing a white long-sleeve shirt stained with blood. He had fair skin, a sharp nose, truly handsome. Ashyra couldn't recall encountering the man before; she couldn't figure out how he knew her. "I'm Raiden Levi Lazarus, you can call me Raiden. I know you because of Amora; she's my cousin," he answered, seemingly understanding the puzzled look Ashyra gave him. Ashyra nodded and looked at the body of the female zombie. She wondered if there was still hope for these creatures, or if, as in the worlds she had read about, people would disappear in the future. "You can rest now; I'll check the room to make sure there's no problem," Raiden said, then started walking towards the kitchen. Raiden was about to reach the kitchen when they suddenly heard a noise from one of the bedrooms in the room. Simultaneously, Ashyra and Raiden looked towards the door of one of the bedrooms. It slowly opened, and a shadow peeked out. Not even a minute had passed when the door opened noisily, and a woman quickly ran towards Raiden. "Raiden! Are you here to save me?! Huhuhu, I'm so scared; those monsters tried to bite me. They're so frightening," the woman cried while hugging Raiden. Ashyra didn't pay attention to the surprise on Raiden's face. She simply averted her gaze to something else. She faced the door of the room where the woman came out. "Marine, what are you doing here?" Raiden's voice echoed, catching Ashyra's attention. Ashyra took a deep breath before walking towards the living room couch. She sat down, and due to exhaustion, quickly found comfort in the seat. "Raiden, I know you won't leave me, huhuhu," Marine cried to Raiden, but he tried to distance her. "Stop it; you can get those zombies' attention. Quiet down your voice," Raiden's voice lacked any affection, sounding tired of the girl's sobbing. "No! I can't calm down, Raiden; I'm so happy to know that you're here," Marine said, still in tears. Raiden sighed deeply and separated himself from Marine. He walked towards Ashyra, speaking to the girl, "Stop it; your voice is so irritating," he said before taking a temporary seat. Marine followed him, noticing for the first time that there was another person with them. She stopped crying, but her expression changed to disdain as she looked at Ashyra. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" Marine's voice lacked irritation but was filled with contempt for Ashyra. "Marine, stop it. She's my cousin's best friend," Raiden replied. "Hmmp, this dorm room is mine. Why is she here?" Marine pouted, casting an annoyed look at Raiden. "Don't act like you don't know what's happening, Marine. It's dangerous outside. It's not strange that she's here," Raiden seemed annoyed with Marine, prompting her to stop acting cute in front of him. "Well, she's your cousin's best friend. Then where's your cousin? Maybe she left your cousin outside to survive," Marine said to Ashyra with a hint of anger. Ashyra didn't care; she was not talkative and not someone who paid attention to unimportant things. She wouldn't engage in this childish quarrel. At a glance, Ashyra knew the kind of person Marine was. "Hey! I'm talking to you? Where's Raiden's cousin? Did you do something to her just to help yourself? Don't you know what Lazarus can do?" Marine looked like she was seeking a fight, then lightly kicked Ashyra's foot. Ashyra closed her eyes, feeling the softness of the couch. However, when she felt Marine's kick, she opened her eyes. She stared directly at Marine, who looked down on her with condescension and contempt. "Why don't you mind your own business? I think you're the one who needs to pay attention to yourself. You don't have any evidence that I did something to my best friend while in here. I already saw the evidence of how you did something to your roommate," Ashyra couldn't help but respond to the girl because of what she witnessed earlier. Marine suddenly stopped, seemingly realizing something. She looked at the body of the female zombie near the door. There was fear on her face, but she wouldn't let Ashyra see her defeated. "What evidence? That monster wanted to bite me, so I defended myself," Marine said defensively to Ashyra. Ashyra lowered her head, seemingly contemplating something but actually thinking about how to phrase her words. She sighed before looking up at Marine. "If you did it in self-defense, then what's that body doing in your room?" she asked calmly. Marine's expression immediately changed. Panic and fear were evident on her face. "N-no! I-I didn't!" she shouted, seemingly losing control. "You! You're framing me! Raiden! Don't believe this b*tch—" Marine was pointing at Ashyra but got cut off as Raiden suddenly covered her mouth. "Shut up, do you want those monsters to come to us? If you're innocent, you need to calm down," Raiden said angrily but calmly. He let go of Marine and sternly looked towards the dorm room's door. Marine seemed like she wanted to say more, but Raiden spoke seriously. "Stop it. Even I myself saw it. Don't you dare to blame Ash; you're not innocent here." There was no trace of anger in Raiden's voice. He calmly controlled his tone. •••
