-Yukino's view Point-
Sir Angelo wrapped his arms around me holding me close. I was still afraid of heights but with him I was a little less timid about it. I gently placed my hands on his, and closed my eyes.
I could hear his wings beating, and then the ground underneath me vanish. I swallowed hard, trying not to let Sir Angelo know that I was scared. I slowly opened my eyes to a busy looking street. Cars, busses people all moving around trying to get to their destination. My eyes widen taking in the beautiful sight. It was something new, something I had never seen before.
After flying high above the busy street Sir Angelo said something in my ear. "Hey you can wear normal clothes here kimonos are kinda out of place, so let's get you some clothing, too. "
I smiled. I had reasons why I wore them but I nodded. "Okay Sir Angelo.
We made it to the shopping district, he gently put me down on the sidewalk. I was getting better about flying, this time I didn't keep my eyes on the ground. "Heh, getting better at this huh baby bird?" I felt like he was teasing me. I looked up at him, still a little shaky but smiled.
"Long as I'm with you I'm not so afraid, Angelo."
He chuckled and then looked away from me running his hand through his messy hair, and then to the back of his neck. "Well kid, let's get this started. We got all day, but first let's go get us a phone." He smiled.
I nodded and smiled. "Okay Sir Angelo." I saw him roll his eyes and slump down.
"Kiiiiiid, come on now." I started to giggle and it turned into a laugh, trying to cover my mouth to muffle it. He started laughing back at me. "Alright come with me." He held out his hand for me and I gently grasped it. "Don't want the baby bird to get lost now." I could feel the heat coming up to my cheeks. I looked down trying to hide my face behind my hair.
"You okay there?" He teased. I averted my eyes from him and nodded slowly. I heard him chuckle. "If you say so, kid." He started walking with me behind him still holding his hand.
We didn't make it far into the shopping mall before people rushed over to us. "Angelo! Angelo! Where have you been?!" My eyes widened. There were a lot of people gathering around throwing questions. I couldn't keep up. The only question I heard was, "who is that?" And I felt all eyes on me.
I wanted to become small, I wanted to run. I was about to pull my hand out of Angelo and tried to run, but a red wing wrapped around me, shielding me from eyes. "She's a good friend of mine that is visiting. Sorry but she's a bit shy so can you give us some space?"
Angelo sounded like he was serious but at the same time joking. Slowly people disbursed leaving him and I alone.
He slowly unshielded me and I peeked out of his wing. The only people left were three women. They pretty much jumped on him asking for selfies and what not. I just stood there not sure if what was going on.
"Well I guess a selfie isn't gonna hurt, so let's get this done." He laughed. The girls gathered around him one on each arm and one girl up front. After they snapped the photos that they wanted they went to ask personal questions.
Of course he was trying to laugh it off until one grabbed his wing and was petting it. "It's so soft Angelo." The other girls rubbed his arms between their breasts.
I could read his body language that he was not liking this at one bit. "Hey, Sir Angelo? Don't we have to go somewhere. " I spoke up.
Angelo looked back at me and smiled. "Sorry ladies but I already have plans with a friend of mine." I felt three sets of glaring eyes at me.
"Buuuuuuuut she's only a friend, we are your biggest fans! We want to be with you for a night. " One of the girls said, trying to get to his ear.
My blood was starting to boil, for some who could control ice. "Look, he doesn't want to spend time with you at the moment okay. So please bother him some other time, just not in front of me. " I spoke without even thinking. I even surprised myself. I quickly pulled in my arms to my chest like a child that touched something hot.
Angelo eyes were on me, his mouth slightly opened, and slowly closed and became a smile. "You heard the lady girls, maybe next time." He smiled.
The girls slowly let go and were ready to throw a tantrum but just walked away. Angelo turned and faced me. "Wow there, baby bird I didn't know you had that much fight in ya." I slowly looked down.
"I.... I have never done that before. '' I was mad at myself, I shouldn't have gotten in the middle of that.
"No, kid I'm glad you did. I'm proud of you." I looked up at him, and he gave me a closed eye smile. 'cute. ' I thought. I quickly tried to get my mind off that. "Alright shall we?" He held his hand out to me again, and I took it.
We made our way to the phone part of the mall, while he was talking to the sales person I wandered around looking at the charms. I saw one that looked like a raptor looking bird that his wing spread with a little bell in its talons. It reminded me of Angelo.
"You find one you want?" I jumped and Sir Angelo was standing beside me looking at what I saw. "So is it this one?" He picked up the one I was eyeballing and gave it a little jingle. I smiled at him. "How about this I'll get you this one and you pick one out for me."
I nodded and looked at the charms once more. I saw a iridescent blue butterfly that was simple. I picked it off the shelving. It was small and simple but when the light hit it there was a blue shaped butterfly on the wall. I smiled. "That one? Why that one Kid?" He asked.
"I like butterflies." I spoke softly.
"Well I guess it does match your personality, and it's beautiful just like you." I smiled until he said I was beautiful. My eyes widened and I felt the heat rush to my face, even the tips of my ears felt heat. He turned away and went to pay for them as well as the phones.
I looked down trying to hide my embarrassment behind my hair. "Here you go kid." I looked back up, and he was handing out my phone with the Angel charm. It jingled a little when I grasped it from him. I couldn't help but to smile. "Well, I already have my number in there and I got yours." He held his phone up and shook it a little. "So let's take a selfie together, what you say baby bird?" I nodded.
He smiled at me and wrapped his arms around my shoulders from behind and squeezed me against him holding a peace sign while I just smiled. "CHIIIIIIIIICKEN!" He took the photo and let me go. " Here I'll text it to ya."
Ba-ding my phone went off. I looked down at him.
Angelo : sent you a photo
I couldn't help but to giggle he had a rooster behind his name.
I sent him a text back.
Baby bird : thank you
I let out a sigh but I guess the baby bird was better than Kid. He smiled at me. Well since you sent me a butterfly maybe I should change you name to butterfly? I shook my head no.
"No it's fine. Baby bird is fine with me." I make a smile at him.
"Alright let me hold on to your phone while we get you some clothes."
My stomach felt like it flipped. I was so used to wearing kimonos since I was a child this was gonna be something new for me. I slowly nodded my head and swallowed hard. "Okay." I tried to put on a brave face and followed him to another part of the mall.
Once we got to the clothing department, I already was overwhelmed. "Umm sir Angelo?" He looked at me.
"What's up baby bird?" I bit my bottom lip.
"Well..I don't really know what will look good on me. But I always need something covering my shoulders and back like a jacket?" He stopped and turned at me.
"Well I guess we are gonna play dress up then!" He smiled. He was more excited about this than I was.
He walked around and started handing me outfits, some that would show off my back if I wasn't careful. He smiled, after about 20 outfits he brought me to the dressing room. Each one different but nice looking. The only problem was I needed and wanted a jacket. I opened the curtains and looked at Angelo playing with his new phone.
"Mhmm? What's up kid?" He looked up and put his hand on his neck.
"May I.....have your jacket, please." He tilted his head and looked at me.
"That's embarrassing?" He asked. I nodded. "Alright kid." He started taking it off and handed it to me. I hung it on the door as I changed. Each outfit I wore his jacket with it. "Well kid I guess that's one way of getting under my clothes." My whole body froze and heated up. I quickly went back into the dressing room as I heard him burst out laughing on the other side.
After playing dress up he bought the outfits and wanted me to wear one of them out. I picked one outfit that made me wear his jacket.
I felt safe in it, and it was a little odd wearing pants but it didn't bother me. It was, when I got home I needed to fix the shirts to fit better, but I wasn't gonna tell him.
"Well kid it's almost like 7 a clock you are hungry?" He asked looking back at me. I looked up at him hugging his jacket around me. I felt a little uncomfortable. I needed to get home to fix this top, but I tried to ignore it and nodded.
-Angel's view point-
I looked down at her, even though she was smiling I could tell she was starting to get uncomfortable. "Well let's go to a diner and then we will go home. She smiled and nodded, taking my hand in hers.
We made it to a small diner, hoping that with less people she would be more comfortable. "Oh Sir Angelo! Welcome to the Diner on the Corner." A guy behind the counter said. I smiled.
"Thanks I'll like a table for two, kinda away from people." The guy nodded and said he has a special place on a deck he can put us. I smiled "Hey thanks!" I said he just smiled and we headed up stairs.
"No one really asks to be up here so it shouldn't have anyone. But here are your menus and I'll be back up to check on you."
He handed me the menus and left. Yukino went and sat at the table fiddling with her thumbs and looking over the scenery. I sat across from her. "Hey kid you doing alright." She never took her eyes off the busy street below. I reached and touched her hand. It was freezing. "Hey! Kid?!" She finally looked over to me.
"Oh sorry, I was thinking." I tilt my head. "About what, kid?"
She sighed and looked at me. "I felt like I've been in a place like this before, but it's all faded. Like trying to look through a fog, but nothing is coming into detail." I rubbed my thumb on her hand. "Like my name isn't even Yuri. Now that I think about it, that was my mother, I used my mother's name so she can still be part of me." She was starting to cry. " I don't even know my own name!" She cried out. I got up from my seat and hugged her, and rubbed her back.
"Ssshhhh, it's okay. We will figure it out." I heard her sob a little harder.
"I'm so sorry Sir Angelo! I'm so sorry!!!" I let her go and put my hand under her chin to make her look up at me.
"For what baby bird?"
Her bottom lip quivering, "That, I am such a burden to you." I shook my head.
"No you're not. So far I learned you're strong, and you're willing to help me out when I need it, so you're not a burden alright." I scolded her.
She nodded and looked away. "Father said he told me my name once but my body froze at the thought of it, and I forgotten everything before that." I watched her.
"Do you remember the name?" I asked. She shook her head.
"No, I don't." I sighed.
"Well baby bird I'm not leaving your side until we figure it out okay." I gave her a hug and smiled down at her. She slowly stopped crying, and wiped away her tears. "Alright let's eat!" I cheered.
