1173 Words
-Fae's view- I was standing at Angelo birds nest on a deck. Fairy lights hung from the ceiling and there was a bench beside the wall. I lend into the fencing and watched as the busy streets twinkle with lights. I zoned out and didn't notice Angelo standing beside me. "Hey baby bird?" He asked. He startled me and I jumped up and even my wings jumped up and out at his voice. "Whoa easy kid it's just me." He raised his hands up to show me he meant peace. Slowly my body unstiffen and went back to looking down at busy streets. "You still doing okay kid?" He asked, with worry in his voice. I smiled and nodded, "Yeah, I just-" I sighed and looked up to him, his golden eyes twinkling under the fairy lights. My heart fluttered. Angelo were so handsome, and kind. Why would he even worry about a weak thing like me. I'm broken in my mind, and my quirk might be strong, but I'm afraid to use it. "Worried." I finished looking away from him. I saw him come closer. "Fae, as much as I want to tell you something I don't want to ruin the night." I quickly turned and looked at him. 'was he confessing to me? ' "what is it Sir Angelo. It's okay you can tell me." I wanted to hear him say it. I wanted to hear him say he likes me more than just a friend. "Let's go inside." He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. It seemed like he was having a hard time saying it. I nodded and went inside and plopped down on the couch. He sat over two cushions away from me. -Angel's view point- I leaned back into the corner of the couch. I wanted to tell her everything, she needed to know about everything. "Okay I have to start from the very beginning." I rubbed my neck trying to figure out how to explain all this into words. She narrowed her eyes like she was expecting for me to say something else but I wanted her to know the whole story before she fell for me blindly. I took in a deep breath and held it and then leaned forward to put my elbows on my knees and my face in my hands. "So when I was a child I really wanted to become a hero, like desperately. I always wanted to get away from my father, who was nothing but abusive, and a drunk. Well one day the number two hero did a raid on the apartment that my father and I were living in. He was caught in the crossfire and was put into prison for drugs and what not." I looked up to her and she was wide eyed. She had no words but reached over and gently grasped my hand. "So being alone I looked up to Blazen, and put myself into the government Hero training academy. So being at 8 I was already training to be a hero." I looked up to her and tried to put a smile on my face but then it faded away. "The council wanted heroes that they could control by making us emotionless. We had to kill things to make us lose our hearts. I was able to kill things quickly but there was a boy, you see, he couldn't. He was strong but his body was weak and couldn't handle his power for too long." I looked down at the floor. "The poor boy had too much of a heart and had to watch things slowly burn to death from his flames, while I was able to kill on the spot." I looked up at Fae, she was still wide eyed. "One day the headmaster kept saying he was weak and was pushing him past his limit and one day his flames went out of control and he burned to death." I heard her gasp, and covered her mouth. "Our class had to watch him burn, we were told if we tried to save him then we were weak and would never be true heroes." I could hear a small whimper come from Fae. I scooted closer to her to give her some comfort as I gently placed my hand on her knee. "So I had to watch not only my classmate but my friend burn to death." "Angelo I'm sorry." She cried. She jumped from her seat and hugged me tightly, pulling my head into her neck so if I needed to cry I could. "After years of being in that, I was released to work for the government, so not only did I do stuff that no one should ever do. I killed people, I tortured people for information." I felt her grip me tighter. But I pushed back so I could see her face. "While you were in the hospital, I looked up your family." She tilted her head. "Why?" She whispered. "I learned that your mother went through the same thing I did." I finally let it out. Her brows narrowed and she turned her head like she was angry and confused. "She did the same thing I did all my life. But unlike me she ran away as a teen and met your father. " I looked at her face trying to study it. I didn't know if this was too much for her or not. "My mother was..... A council tool?" She asked angrily. I nodded my head and she had a face of lividness. "So the council signed up men to kill her and take you. Which they couldn't when your father took you." "Angelo do you still work for the council?" She asks, trying to hide all of her emotions. I didn't know how to answer and I didn't lie, so I ended up nodding. "So, are you going to turn me in?" She asked. "As of right now they don't know you're here. " I said. "That's not what I asked sir Angelo." It sounded like she was growling at me. "No, because to me you're not your mother, and you're too pure to be doing that kind of work." I finally answered. I saw her frown at my answer. She stood up and headed to the bathroom and closed the door. I wanted to follow but at the moment maybe she just wanted her space. I heard the toilet flush and then her bedroom door slamming shut with a click of it being locked. I jumped up and walked to her room, I placed my hand on her door and I could hear some music starting to play. I could feel that she was crying into a pillow, which was understandable. So much happened yesterday and today. And to add on I just add this to the list. I let out a long sigh and sat back against the door trying to figure out what I could do to make things better.
