-Angel's view point-
I woke up to the buzzing sound of the alarm clock. I let out a tired grown and rolled over to start walking at to make it shut up. Finally I felt it under my hand and found the switch. I lift my head up and yawned. Feathers everywhere, and I still had my clothes on from last night. I sat up, "god I feel like shit." I moaned. I yawned and stretched out my arms and wings. Finally everything hit me from last night. "f**k! KID?!". Jumped up and ran out into the living room.
Yukino was making crepes with apple slices. I ran up behind her and hugged her, wrapping my wings around her. I felt her body become stiff.
"Sir, are you okay!?" She asked, stiffening. Her body slowly softened.
"God kid I'm so sorry about last night." I buried my head into her shoulder. I felt her squirm a little, trying to make sure the food doesn't burn.
"Sir Angelo it's okay, don't worry about it." She said so sweetly.
I could still smell the fresh rain and flowers on her. "Oh yeah your wings!" I shouted. I backed up and saw them folded in, like flies would. She was wearing an opened back t shirt, I gave her last night. "Wait so that's how you hide them?" I asked.
She turned her head to the side. "Unlike my father I'm more of a damselfly then a dragonfly." She opened up her beautiful wings, they were giant compared to her body. Then she pulled them back in, and they rested up against her body. "My can fold in and out while his can't. I got the wings from him and ice from my mother."
She slid the crepe onto a plate and started making another batch. "The sad part is, wings on bugs, when they break or rip they're done they don't grow back." She turned and looked at me. Her icy blue eyes studying my face.
"So in order to use my ice I have to first coat my wings first otherwise the coldness could rip them." I pulled my hand to my chin trying to take in all the information. "That's why I try to cover them and try not to use them. It's not like they are fragile or anything, it's just I don't want to risk it."
"But if you got wings you should stretch them out and fly, there is no need for to be confined to the ground." I said, and I meant that in more ways than one.
She looked down and hid her face behind her hair. "Look baby bird, all I'm saying is don't the ground chain you up. Be free to do what makes you happy." I put my hand under her chin so she would look at me and with my free hand I tucked some of her silvery hair behind her elf ears.
I studied her face, she kept reminding me of someone, but still don't know who. I smelt something burning. I saw her eyes widen "OH NO!" She turned and slid the burnt crepe out of the pan. "Well shoot." She scoffed.
I smiled. "It's fine kid I'll stop distracting ya." I laughed. I walked out of the kitchen and sat on the couch. She went back to cooking, and making tea.
I was playing on my phone when she brought me a plate and fork. "Wow thanks!" Taking the plate from her. She gave a smile and a pat on the shoulder as she went to fix herself a plate. "Can I have some coffee." I asked.
"No but you can have some green tea." I shook my head.
"What?" She turned to me.
"With how you were last night you need water, so green tea is better for you then coffee." I let out a chuckle.
"Okay mom." I heard her giggle as she came back with her plate and my tea.
I turned the TV on, flipping through the channels until I just randomly stopped on something. I was cutting up my creape when I noticed Yukino froze. I looked up at her, "Hey what's-" I stopped when I heard the tv said something about a forest fire. I looked at the TV, it was showing a birds eye view of the fire from a chopper.
"Angelo....." I turned and looked at her. She jumped up slamming her plate on the table and was about to run out the door.
"Kid?!" I grabbed her wrist.
"Sir Angelo, that's too close to father! I have too-" I let go and stood up.
"Time to fly kid." She nodded and ran to the sliding glass door and waited for me.
"Can you even fly?" I asked. She never even looked at me, instead she climbed over the fence and stood on it balancing on it, then she jumped. I could hear the buzzing of a bug wing flapping, but she was creeping too close to the ground for my comfort. "Kid?" She kept falling.
"Kid!" I quickly hopped over and tried to dive down as fast as I could to grab her. But at the last second finally got the hang of it, her face was serious and never even thought about looking back as she sped off towards her old home.
I tried my best to keep up with her. For once I had a little bit of a challenge on my hands. When we reached the forest she stopped and hovered a bit, her body kept bobbing losing altitude. I'm sure she never flown like this before let alone be this high on her own.
I flew over to her. "Hey kid give me your hand before you drop." I warned and right when I said drop her wings finally gave out. I quickly grabbed her hands and gently placed her on the ground.
She looked up at me with teary eyes, frost was starting to accumulate around her cheeks. Her hands were freezing to the point they were hurting me through my gloves. "Kid calm down we will find your father you just-" her eyes glued forward and I heard a voice coming from the raging fire.
"Well, well, well if it isn't my little friend Fae. The one's mother who forced me into a cave hoping I would be forgotten about."
A figure finally showed, it was a woman, with big dragon looking wings, her body covered in scales almost like she was nothing but armor plates. She had a long tail that was the same length as her whole body.
Yukino's eyes were glued to this dragon girl. "Did....did you do this?!" She cried out.
"Now that's not how to greet an old friend Fae." The dragon girl leaned back and pulled her head back like she was gonna scream with all her body.
But it wasn't just that, there was fire with it. I jumped and grabbed Yukino and dodge the flames. Her body was deathly cold. "Yukino we need to find your father and get out of this. I'm not equipped to fight fire, Kid." I warned.
She never even looked at me, she opened her mouth and let out a long sigh, which you could see the frost forming around it. "Yukino!" Finally she snapped out of it and looked at me. Her eyes frosted over and her skin pale as snow. "We. Need. To find. Your father." I said slow so she could understand.
Her eyes slowly defrost and brought life back to them. I grabbed her waist without even asking and flew straight up. I knew this dragon girl was gonna follow us, but there wasn't much I could do when I had Yukino in my arms.
I could hear flapping other than my wings and turned my head to see her following. "Well s**t. It's too early in the morning to be a roasted chicken!" I yelled.
Yukino's body was still freezing, "Sir Angelo fly over that way!" She shouted pointing to there was a small cleaning. "That should be where the Dragonfly's Den is!" I was more worried about what was following us but I started heading that way.
"There I see it!" She screamed. She was trying to squirm out of my arm.
"Kid knock it off or you're gonna fall." I warned.
"Angelo let go!" I sighed.
"Kid your wings are past their limit give me a sec, will ya!" I could feel her body go limp in my arms, and she cooperated.
We got to the hotel, it was on fire, and was burning quickly. "FATHER?!!" She started screaming out for him.
"AKITA?!?" I followed behind. "Kid you take the front I'll take the back." She nodded and started running inside. I flapped my wings and flew into the garden. "Yo Pops! Where you at?!?" I was about to head inside but I felt hot air coming at me. I quickly dodge a fireball.
"Whoa there hot momma almost got me." I smirked.
"Well, sorry but I like my birds well done, you damn chicken, now move it!" She growled back. I made a fake crying face and rubbed my eyes.
"Awww that hurt my feelings." I pulled a feather out and was ready to use it as a sword.
"Look you damn bird this family needs to end in suffering." She growled even flames were coming off her heated breaths.
"And why is that lizard bat?"
She narrowed her eyes, "the ice women's family took over my family's territory and caused a family feud. I'm the only one left cuz Fae's mother froze me inside a cave." She spread her fingers out showing off her claws. She got ready to charge me when I heard Yukino scream.
I sent feathers at the dragon and ran inside trying to find her. "Kid?! Where are you?!" I started coughing as things around me were falling from the ceiling.
"Angelo!" I could hear her but she was faint.
"Kiiiid?!?" I tried to follow her voice.
"Angelo over here!" Finally I saw her standing by a beam. "Kid you okay!?" She started coughing.
"Father he's trapped! He's under that beam." I looked around trying to figure out how to move it without making the whole building come down.
"Help me out kid, I'm gonna try to lift this and I want you to pull him out got it!" She nodded. I reached under and got my hands around the beam the best I could and started to lift it. I spread my legs trying to support it while she grabbed Akita.
Once she got him out I dropped the beam and stuff came crashing down. Covering us with my wings to make sure none of us got hit. I looked at Yukino and then Akita. I grabbed him and threw him over my shoulder. "Let's get out of here Kid, I don't wanna be fired bird." She nodded and held her hands over and tried to clear us a path to an opening door.
Once we got out there were heroes finally here. And I placed Akita on the ground as gently as I could. His wings were 90% gone, the beam must have crushed them and the fire burning them. I felt horrible, he must have been in pain.
I felt a cool hand on my arm, and looking over it was Yukino. "Hey, kid." She never even looked away from her father. "She kept calling you Fae." Her body stiffen.
"Yukino Fae." She looked up at me. "Yukino Fae is my name." I smiled.
"Hey well Kid, I guess we got a name now." She smiled, back at me. "Heh, Fae. That's a pretty name." I said under my breath hope she didn't hear me.
the council took her father to the hospital as well as put out the fire in the hotel. Sadly it was all gone, nothing even salvageable. I could see Fae was sad but no tears were coming to her face. The dragon girl got away.
I had some questions that I needed to ask Akita when he woke up. I knew Fae wouldn't know the answers, even if I did ask. But we got one thing down, a name. Which means I can start doing my homework when we get home.
