Chapter 2 The Thunder Rolls

13 years later -Angel's view point- "God damnit I knew this was a bad idea!" I was yelling at myself. "I knew I should have said no." I was flying from the mountains after a rescue mission, and it was pouring down rain. Storms and I didn't get along especially thunderstorms, they were too dangerous to fly in. I tried to pick up speed but it was gonna be awhile before I reached the city and all that was under me was trees. The sky lit up from the lighting. "Well, s**t. This is how I'm gonna die applently." I was trying to laugh but then a lighting strike too close to me, making me pull my body back. I started falling lucky the trees broke my fall. Though I was still pretty beating up. I tried stretching my wings out but it was too painful like something fractured. I quickly pulled them in and grabbed my shoulders. "Well then, this is gonna be one hell of a walk." I started walking, I pulled out my phone but being soaked to the core made it where I couldn't call let alone use it. I was about to just start yelling for help, before I heard an eerie voice, like singing. My love, my love my fearless love.  I will not say goodbye. Sea may rise sky may fall But my love will never die.     I kept following the voice, lighting stroke, lighting up the sky and land. There was a shimmer of something. A girl dancing around, she had long silver hair and elf ears, wearing what seemed to be a white sundress. The sky lit up again. When she spun around I saw iridescent wings, in a shape of butterfly wings. The girl kept singing her song not even realizing I'm here. I watched her dance almost like she was frolicking like a fairy. I wanted to say something, it wasn't safe out here for either of us. I took a step forward and tripped over a root falling face first into mud. I slowly lifted my body up, and the girl saw me. She ran up to me. I looked up at her, her icy blue eyes, her silver hair reminded me of someone, but I couldn't tell who. "Oh Sir are you okay?!" She asked. I looked over her again and her wings were gone. Did I just imagine them? "Sir?" She asked again. I stood up, tall trying to hide any weakens. "Yeah I'm just pea-" I got a light head and everything turned black. "Oh God Sir?!"                                                                  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I woke up the next morning in an old traditional style room. I was on a futon in the middle of the floor. I tried to sit up but my body still sore from last night, my head pounding. I heard a soft knock at the door, "Sir are you awake, I'm coming in." The door slowly slid open and there was the girl from last night. Her silver blonde hair was pulled to one side as her elf ears poked through. Her icy blue eyes were looking at the floor, avoiding me. She had on a green kimono with vines and pink flowers here and there. "I washed your clothes Mister." She spoke softly, putting my clothing beside me, they were all neatly folded and clean. I grunted as I tried to sit up. "Oh no, sir please don't do that you're still hurt." She was about to reach out to push me back down, but I got my body to sit up before she could. I didn't have a shirt on, and I had some black sweat pants on that weren't even mine. "Hey kid where am I?" I asked. She smiled at me. "Well you're at my father's hot spring hotel, The Dragonflies Den." She seemed happy to help me. "Oh okay." I tried to stretch my wings out but pain quickly hit, pulling them in quickly and hugging my shoulders. "Oh no sir, you wings were heavy injured!" She stood up. " I'll go get some hot water. I will be right back!" She turned and ran. I could hear her light footsteps in the distance. I finally took a good look at my body. I had some bandages wrapped around my arm and my waistline. I even had a bandage on the side of my head right among the hairline. I heard footsteps coming back. I looked up, it was the girl with a giant bowl of steaming hot water and a towel thrown over her shoulder. She got on her knees, and dunked the towel into the water. "I'm sorry about your wings sir, in your sleep you wouldn't let me touch them, so I couldn't do anything until you were wake." She spoke so softly, and politely. I looked at her face, it was round, almost childlike, simply beautiful. She ringed out the towel and looked up at me. "Is it okay to touch your wings, sir?" I smirked. "You don't have to call me Sir, kid." She let out a chuckle. "Well what should I call you?" She asked. "I'm Angelo." She narrowed her eyes. " Well nice to meet you sir Angelo." She gave me a closed eye smile. "I'm Yukino Yuri." When she said the name Yukino, it sounded familiar. I shook my head. "That's a pretty name, a snow lily." She smiled at the compliment. "Thank you, I have my mother to thank me for that name." She sounded almost sad. She started to hold my wing out gently and started to wipe it down with the rag, making sure not to hurt me. "Hey Kid, you okay?" Her face was sad. "oh sorry, I was just thinking about my mother." I turned my head at her. "Did she-" she looked up at me and smiled. "She passed away when I was four, I don't remember much before then other than I know she was a gentle woman, and father was madly in love with her." She sighed. She started rubbing the feathers lightly making her way down the wing pulling out twigs when she found them. "Yukino!" I heard a male's voice down the hall. She looked up at my face. "That would be father. We have a group of guests along with you." My eyes widened. I felt bad I was taking her away from her other guest. "Hey kid do what you need to do I'll be here." I smiled at her. She stood up. "If you like to sir Angelo there is a hot spring you can enjoy if you wish, just follow the signs if you want to. Also lunch would be served soon. At dinner my father always wants me to sing to people but it seems like this group of people isn't too friendly." The last part it sounded like she was trailing off. Her eyes were watching the door. "If you ever need anything just let us know okay, sir Angelo." She gave me a wave and walked out the door. I was left alone in the room. I tried to stand up, I was still a little wobbly but I needed to stretch my legs. I walked around the room. There was a small closet, and a sliding door that seemed to have light coming from it. I walked over to it and opened it. The building was shaped like a U around a garden in the middle. It was a beautiful day with birds chirping. I step outside to get some fresh air. In the garden were sakura trees and a koi pond sitting in the middle with a bench. The petals of the flowers danced in the breeze.          I walked outside and sat on the bench, the water was pink to match the surrounding trees. It was peaceful, until the neighbors decided to come out. They were loud, it was a group of young men. I leaned my head back and sighed. 'No wonder why she said that.' I thought it finally clicked what she meant that they weren't the kind of people who would enjoy a free show. "Dude you see that girl?!" One of the boys said. I lifted my head up and looked over at them. "Yeah I know she's soooooo hot." I couldn't help but grit my teeth. My fist curled up into balls of fist. I didn't like the way they were talking about Yukino like that. "Do you think she has even been with a man before? After all her father said it was just her and him running this joke of a place." One of them was mocking this place. I jumped up from my seat ready to tear these boys apart. I felt a hand on my shoulder strong and firm. I turned to find an older gentleman, with grey silvery hair. His eyes were a bit odd, they were green but the iris was like insect eyes with lots of little eyes inside it. He had no pupils it looked like. He also had large dragonfly wings. "It's okay, my friend. Don't worry about them, they are leaving tomorrow night." I looked at him. "But-" he shook his head. "I'm used to this my friend, they aren't the first, and the most certainly not last." I let out a long sigh. "I am Yukino Akita." He said. So I'm guessing this is Yuri's father. "I'm Angels." I answered back. "Well my friend Angels are you hungry it's still morning would you like to have breakfast? My daughter is making it. " His smile was inviting. I nodded and smiled. "Alright I'll take you inside." We walked a little bit before we came to a dining area, with a large table, and plates of food all over the table. Things from pancakes, fresh fruits, coffee and more. I heard a whistle from another room, I'm guessing it was the kitchen. Yuri walked out with a platter that had a tea pot and tea cups. "Oh hello again Sir Angels." She smiled. I couldn't help but to smile. "What did I tell you about calling me sir, Kid." She giggled and gave me a closed eye smile. "Well that would be hard for me to do." I saw her tense up trying to stop herself calling me sir. I couldn't help but to laugh. I could see where she was getting it from. "Would you like some tea sir Angelo?" She asked setting the tea kettle down and then gently setting the cups down. "Sure, what is it. " She smiled and gave me a cup. "It's oolong tea, today it's a plum flavor with a hint of honey." She handed me the cup and it smelt delicious. Taking a sip I could taste the plum and it wasn't overly sweet with the honey. It went down smooth, and still had a taste even after it was gone. "Damn kid this good!" I smiled. I wanted to keep drinking it but it was still hot. "Thank you, your words are very kind sir Angelo." I looked up at her, she was smiling joyfully like no one said that to her before. I heard sounds outside the room the group was coming in making a ruckus. I let out a sigh, and grabbed what I wanted before the group came in. Yuri just stood there and bowed slightly as they entered, acting like they owned the place. Just their presents irritated me. There were about 7 total, and they automatically started grabbing food and being loud. I rolled my eyes and tried to enjoy what Yuri made. "Gentleman please enjoy what my daughter has made for you this morning, and you are free to enjoy the hiking trails as the hot springs when you're finished." Akita spoke. After he left, the boys were conversing over Yuki. "Dude she would make a good wife, if she makes this good enough food. " One spook. "Yeah, she has such a nice face and a body to boot." Another said. I could feel the heat coming to my face. "You know that's not very polite to talk about a girl like that." I growled. All of them looked at me. "What's it to you birdboy? Is she your girlfriend?" The first one spoke up, again. "Maybe she is, what's it to you?" I smirked. I could feel all of them glare at me. "Fine proves it!" I stood up. "I don't have to prove s**t to you worms." I grabbed an apple and my tea and left. I had it, I was able to eat half of my food before I left. Hopefully it was enough to pass me on until lunch. I stomped into my room, and slid the door open and then slammed it shut. I took a bite of my apple and looked up to the ceiling, still chewing it. I could hear Yuki signing again, maybe practicing for tonight but it was the same song I heard last night when she found me. My heart, my heart, my drowning heart.  Oh of all the tears I've cried.  I may weep forevermore My love will never die. Once again I could feel something tugging at my heartstrings. 'Why? Why do I even feel like this? Like I'm forgetting something.' My eyes watching her dance among the rocks of the pound like the fairy I saw last night. I took another bite and just enjoyed watching.
