Chapter 7

725 Words
The Scream The scream, piercing and raw, echoed through the mansion, sending a chill down Grace's spine. It was a sound of terror, of pain, a sound that sent a wave of fear crashing over her. Lorenzo, his eyes narrowed, turned towards the source of the sound. His expression was unreadable, his face a mask of indifference. "What was that?" he asked, his voice low and dangerous. Grace couldn't answer. She was frozen in place, her heart pounding in her chest. She had never heard a scream like that, a scream that seemed to carry a depth of terror that she couldn't comprehend. He took a step towards the grand staircase, his movements swift and silent. "We need to investigate," he said. Grace hesitated, her mind racing with apprehension. She knew that danger lurked in this house, in this island, in this world that Lorenzo ruled. She didn't want to be involved, but she knew she had no choice. She followed him down the stairs, her footsteps echoing on the polished marble floor. The hallway, now filled with a sense of urgency, felt cold and oppressive. As they approached the source of the scream, they could hear the sounds of commotion and a flurry of footsteps. The air felt thick with tension, and a sense of foreboding filled the air. They reached a large, ornate room, the door ajar, revealing a scene of chaos. Servants, their faces pale with fear, were clustered around a figure lying on the floor. The scream had stopped, replaced by a heavy silence that seemed to amplify the tension in the air. Lorenzo pushed through the crowd, his eyes fixed on the figure on the floor. Grace, hesitant, followed behind him, her heart pounding in her chest. The figure on the floor was Mrs. Sanchez, her face pale, her eyes wide with terror. A single, deep gash, still oozing blood, marred her throat. Grace gasped, her eyes widening in horror. She knew that this was no ordinary injury, no simple accident. She could feel the presence of darkness, of evil, surrounding Mrs. Sanchez's body. Lorenzo, his expression now cold and calculating, knelt beside her, his hand hovering over her wound. His eyes, glowing with an unnatural intensity, seemed to pierce through her, reading her very essence. “She’s dead,” he said, his voice a low rumble that echoed through the room. Grace felt a chill run down her spine. The air around them felt heavy, suffocating. She could sense a darkness, a malevolence, that seemed to seep from the walls. "What happened?" she asked, her voice barely audible. Lorenzo didn't answer. He stood up, his gaze sweeping across the room, taking in the scene before him. His eyes lingered on each of the servants, his gaze piercing, judgmental. "Find the beast," he commanded, his voice a cold, metallic rasp. "It will not escape me." The servants, their faces pale with fear, scattered, their footsteps echoing through the mansion. Lorenzo turned to Grace, his eyes fixed on her, his gaze intense. "Stay here," he said, his voice low and commanding. She nodded, her mind racing with questions. She had no idea what was happening, what kind of creature Lorenzo was hunting, or what role she played in all of this. He vanished into the shadows, his movements as swift and silent as a phantom. Grace stood there, alone, her mind filled with a mixture of fear and confusion. She was trapped in a world of darkness, a world where the lines between reality and nightmare blurred. She had no idea what awaited her, but she knew that it wouldn't be pretty. A low growl emanated from the hallway, a sound that sent a shiver down her spine. It was a primal sound, a sound that spoke of danger, of violence. She turned towards the sound, her heart pounding in her chest. A dark figure, its eyes glowing with a malevolent light, emerged from the shadows. It moved with an unsettling grace, its movements fluid and predatory. It was a creature of the night, a creature that was both terrifying and beautiful. Grace gasped, her eyes widening in terror. She didn't know what it was, but she knew that it was a creature of darkness, a creature that had come to harm her and the creature let out a low growl
