Williams POV
The whole pack remained silent.
Not the fearful silence that followed death, but the heavy silence that came after witnessing something impossible.
The elders stood frozen where they were. The warriors exchanged confused glances. Even the priestess looked shaken by what had just happened inside the sacred chamber.
Everything changed the moment the strange she-wolf appeared.
The curse that had nearly destroyed my life was gone.
The unbearable pain that had tormented my wolf for years disappeared completely, as though it had never existed. My breathing became easier. The burning veins beneath my skin calmed. For the first time in years, my wolf no longer howled in agony inside me.
My life returned to normal within a single night.
Yet instead of peace, my heart was filled with confusion.
I slowly turned my gaze toward the she-wolf lying unconscious beside me on the large bed. Her breathing was faint but steady. Her silver hair spread across the pillow while her face remained pale from exhaustion.
Something about her presence disturbed me deeply.
Not because I feared her.
But because the bond between us was too powerful.
I reached for her trembling fingers carefully. The instant my skin touched hers, my wolf reacted violently inside me.
The mate bond.
It reflected immediately.
I froze completely.
“She is my mate,” I muttered quietly while staring at the priestess.
The goddess priestess lowered her head slowly and nodded.
“Yes, Alpha William. She is your destined mate.”
My heartbeat became uneven.
I looked back at the unconscious woman again, unable to understand how fate could suddenly bring her into my life this way.
“She is yet to wake,” the priestess continued softly. “For several hours she has remained unconscious after healing your curse.”
I clenched my fists tightly.
The priestess hesitated before speaking again.
“She is carrying twins in her womb. Her body went through enormous stress tonight. The awakening of her wolf happened at the same time she healed you. The spiritual reaction became too powerful for her body to handle.”
My eyes widened instantly.
“She is pregnant?” I asked sharply.
The priestess nodded again.
“Yes, Alpha.”
For several seconds I remained quiet while staring at the unconscious woman before me.
Then I spoke slowly.
“I do not care that she is pregnant.”
The priestess looked at me in surprise.
“I do not care whose children she carries,” I continued. “What matters to me is that she saved my life. Everyone had already given up on me. My throne was slipping away from my hands. My enemies waited for me to die slowly while pretending to care.”
I looked down at her face again.
“But she brought me back.”
The words came out heavier than I expected.
“She deserves peace after everything she has suffered.”
Just as I was about to continue speaking, the woman suddenly moved weakly beneath the blanket.
Her fingers twitched.
“She is awake,” I said immediately.
Both I and the priestess leaned closer.
Slowly, her eyes fluttered open.
Confusion filled her expression as she stared around the unfamiliar room.
“What happened to me?” she asked weakly.
Her voice sounded fragile.
After learning that her name was Ava, the priestess carefully explained everything that had happened inside the sacred chamber.
Ava listened quietly.
But the moment the explanation ended, tears gathered instantly in her eyes.
“Alpha William,” she whispered painfully, “please reject me.”
The words shocked both me and the priestess.
Ava looked away from me while tears rolled down her cheeks.
“I do not want anything to do with an Alpha anymore,” she continued. “I cannot survive another rejection. I cannot go through that pain again.”
Something inside my chest tightened painfully hearing her voice.
I moved closer to her and gently held her trembling hands.
“Ava,” I said softly, “from the moment the curse disappeared from my body, I already felt grateful to you. But the moment I discovered you were my mate…” I paused briefly. “I knew I could never reject you.”
She stared at me silently.
“This is your home now,” I continued. “This pack will protect you. Nobody here will hurt you. You will give birth to your children safely here.”
Her expression immediately changed.
“How do you know I am pregnant?” she asked nervously.
“The priestess confirmed it,” I replied calmly.
The priestess nodded.
“Yes. You are carrying twins.”
Ava closed her eyes briefly before whispering words that changed everything.
“They are Alpha Adrian’s children.”
The name hit me like thunder.
My expression darkened instantly.
“Alpha Adrian?” I repeated slowly.
She nodded weakly.
“Yes.”
For a moment I could not speak.
That name was far too familiar.
Alpha Adrian Everton.
The man I once considered my greatest rival.
The same reckless fool from my college years.
The same man responsible for the disappearance of the only woman I had ever truly loved.
“You know him?” Ava asked carefully after noticing my silence.
I quickly forced my expression back to normal.
“The name sounds familiar,” I answered calmly. “But I do not think it matters right now.”
That was a lie.
The name mattered more than she could possibly imagine.
Inside me, old memories already returned like poison.
Back in college, Adrian was the most arrogant werewolf among us all.
Rude.
Reckless.
Completely uncontrollable.
Even as a young Alpha heir, he behaved like the world belonged to him alone. Rules meant nothing to him. Respect meant nothing.
He fought constantly.
Not ordinary fights.
Brutal fights.
There were nights Adrian returned to campus covered entirely in blood after nearly killing rivals from neighboring packs. Yet somehow, his powerful family always protected him from punishment.
He mocked weaker wolves openly.
He humiliated students publicly for entertainment.
He seduced women carelessly, then discarded them once he grew bored.
Everywhere Adrian walked, chaos followed behind him.
Most people feared him.
Others worshipped him because of his power.
But I hated him from the very beginning.
Not only because of his arrogance.
But because Adrian enjoyed hurting people emotionally.
He understood exactly where to strike someone to destroy them completely.
I still remembered the first serious fight between us back in college.
A young wolf accidentally spilled a drink on Adrian during a gathering. Instead of letting it go, Adrian smashed a bottle against the boy’s head so violently the entire hall became stained with blood.
Everyone froze.
Nobody dared interfere.
I was the only one who stepped forward.
I grabbed Adrian by the collar and slammed him against the wall before he could attack the boy again.
He laughed directly into my face.
That same dangerous smile I would never forget.
“You enjoy playing hero, William,” he mocked me. “One day that foolish pride of yours will destroy you.”
We fought so badly that night the college elders had to separate us.
From that day onward, our rivalry became known throughout every werewolf territory connected to the academy.
But the real hatred between us started because of Elena.
The only woman I had ever loved.
Elena was kind, intelligent, and calm unlike the violent environment around us. She avoided conflicts and stayed away from arrogant Alpha heirs like Adrian.
Yet Adrian became obsessed with her.
Not because he loved her.
But because he enjoyed taking things that belonged to others.
He flirted with her constantly despite her rejection.
He mocked me endlessly whenever he saw us together. Then one day…Elena disappeared.
Nothing was trace to her disappearance. Some students said they heard someone screeming in her room. But beifee they would rushed to check, the voice went down.
I searched everywhere for her.
For months I nearly lost my mind trying to find her.
But Adrian vanished from the academy shortly afterward without warning.
That alone was enough to make me suspicious forever.
I don't know if he was scared not to be pointed finger on, I can't tell if it was his reckless life style that made him vanish even when he is not yet graduated.
Even after ten years, I never forgot it.
Never.
The sudden opening of the bedroom door interrupted my thoughts.
A maid entered quietly carrying food for Ava.
“Your meal, Alpha,” the maid said respectfully.
She placed the tray carefully near Ava.
I looked toward Ava again.
“Please eat,” I told her softly. “You need strength.”
But Ava slowly shook her head.
“I am not hungry, Alpha William.”
Tears filled her eyes again.
“What I want is rejection. Please reject me so I can leave peacefully. Alpha Adrian Everton will never see my children.”
The moment she mentioned his full name, my heart turned cold instantly.
Now there was absolutely no doubt.
It was him.
“ He has a pack.?” I asked myself. As kept my face calm despite the storm raging inside me.
How ironic fate truly was.
Out of every she-wolf in existence, Adrian’s rejected mate had become mine.
And she carried his unborn children.
“Alpha William,” the priestess called carefully after noticing my silence. “Is everything alright?”
“I am fine,” I answered shortly.
Without another word, I stood up quietly and walked out of the room.
The moment I entered my chambers, I shut the door behind me and sat heavily on the bed.
The memories returned stronger.
Adrian laughed arrogantly.
Adrian fights recklessly.
Adrian disappears after Elena vanishes.
My fists tightened slowly.
“How is it possible?” I muttered darkly.
“The one man I never finished my battle with… and now his rejected mate appears in my pack carrying his heirs.”
I leaned back slowly while my wolf growled inside me.
“For ten years I searched for answers.”
My eyes darkened.
“And now fate finally places something precious to Adrian directly into my hands.”
A dangerous silence filled the room.
I closed my eyes briefly.
“Should I make him suffer the same pain he caused me?” I whispered within myself.
My wolf reacted instantly with rage.
But another thought followed immediately.
Ava had done nothing wrong.
Neither had the unborn pups inside her.
She saved my life.
She restored my throne.
Without her, the curse would have destroyed me completely.
I owed her everything.
Slowly, I exhaled deeply.
“No,” I muttered firmly.
“I will never hurt her.”
I stood from the bed and walked toward the window silently.
“But Adrian…”
My eyes became colder than before.
“Every pain you caused me in the past…”
I clenched my fists tightly.
“You will pay for every single one of them.”
And within myself, I made that promise to him silently.
