JACE I meant every word I had said to Lana about her using me to get back to Jude, except that I wasn't going to let her go back to him. I would make her crave me and want me instead. How could I help my fated mate get back to her ex-fiancé? She hadn't really thought about it now because she was too excited to get back with Jude. Was she so in love that she couldn't realise Jude didn't love her anymore? Only if she knew what I had in store for her. Goddess forbid I let her return to that bastard. “Fine,” she whispered, her face beaming with joy. “I agree to whatever makes Jude fall back in love with me.” My wolf growled angrily at her words. And I began to wonder if she wasn't feeling the mate bond at all, because I couldn’t even resist her, no matter how hard I tried to. The bond kept pulling me back to her and I swear I wanted to mark her and let the world know that she was mine. But I wasn't going to rush things. If having her to myself meant that I had to make her believe she would get back to Jude, then I would do just that. “Okay,” I said, tightening my grip on the steering wheel. I clenched my teeth so hard I was surprised my jaw hadn't cracked. “So when are we starting?” She asked, oblivious to the tension simmering beneath my skin. “Jace?” She called out when I didn't respond. “Whenever you are ready,” I responded through clenched teeth. She must have noticed my anger, despite how much I tried to hide it. She exhaled sharply through her nostrils. “I can look for someone else if you can't go through with this,” she said, her tone barely above a whisper. “And the mate bond, we can just…” “It's okay!” I cut her off, knowing that she was going to ask me to reject her. I couldn't do that. I couldn't reject Lana. I had waited for so many years to meet my fated mate. I hadn't expected my fated mate to be an omega or even my brother's chosen mate. I don't know what kind of game the Moon Goddess was trying to play, but I was definitely not going to reject my fated mate because of some twisted game or fate. She raised an eyebrow at me, then sighed heavily. “You know we can't be, right?” She asked softly. A knot tightened in my chest at her question. I didn't respond to her. I just kept my gaze fixed on the road as if she hadn't just asked me a question. “Why don't we just reject each other?” A loud growl rumbled from my chest and her eyes widened in fear. She could feel my Alpha aura radiating off me. How could she suggest that we reject each other? Did she even realise what she had just said? We were almost at the airport now and the urge to shift into my wolf form was overwhelming. I hadn't done that in years, but Lana was the only woman who had gotten under my skin in years. Fuck! “I don't care who you love, Lana,” I growled. “I'm not rejecting you. Get that straight.” The car skidded to a halt at that moment. We were already at the airport. “We are here,” I said, my tone surprisingly gentle. Her mouth opened, then closed, as if she didn't know what to say to me. But I could see fear and confusion clouding her features. Without a word, she opened the car door and sighed heavily. Lana gave me one last glance, then stepped out of the car. I didn't try to stop her or even wait for her to board the plane. I started the car and headed back to one of my companies. I had to give orders to my manager and sort out some things before leaving Paris. I couldn't let my fated mate be in that f*****g pack with my brother. I knew what he was capable of doing if he found out Lana was my fated mate. Or maybe he had found out before I did. Maybe that was the reason he chose her, after all, he had always wanted everything that was mine. “Welcome, Mr. Sinclair,” a security guard greeted, bowing his head as I drove into the parking lot of my company. I hadn't been in this company for some weeks, because it was full of humans. Despite being around them for five years, I was still not used to their scents and crazy acts yet. I mostly stay away from them to avoid trouble. Everything about humans screamed trouble and I tried as much as I could to stay away from them. I strode into the lobby and heads bowed when I made my appearance known. For some reason, most of my workers couldn't look into my eyes directly, probably because of the Alpha aura that mostly radiates from me. This was another reason why I hated being here. There was nothing better than being in my pack, and I would make sure that happened now that I had found my mate. I caught a glimpse of the manager barking out orders to some of the workers and the moment he saw me, his eyes widened slightly in surprise. He had expected to see me, because I usually inform him before coming. He bowed his head and followed behind me into my office. “Mr. Sinclair,” he said as he stood in front of my desk. “I didn't know you were coming.” “Do I have to always inform you before coming to my company?” I screeched at him. His throat bobbled up and down as he swallowed hard. “No, sir. I didn't mean it—” I cut him off sharply before he could finish his words. “I'm travelling out of the country for a few weeks. Make sure every unfinished project is done before my arrival,” I barked at him. I scanned through some documents on my desk and handed some over to him. “You will need these documents for the projects.” He received the documents, his eyes moving through them. “All right, sir. I will make sure to get things done before your arrival.” He said, giving a curt nod. ******** “What the hell are you doing here, Jace?” My brother spat, his tone venomous. I had just arrived in the pack and I couldn't believe he was the first person I ran into. A smug grin stretched on my lips. “What do you mean, brother?” He ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. Seeing him this way was kind of amusing. “You aren't supposed to be here, Jace!” He yelled again. A sinister laugh broke out of my lips at that moment. I wasn't supposed to be here? The same pack that belonged to both of us? “Have you forgotten I belong to this pack too?” I raised an eyebrow. “Or do you need a brain reboot or something? The last time I checked, I was not banished from this pack.” His jaw dropped to the floor at my words and his eyes darkened with rage. I could tell that he was short of words. He looked through the hallway as if he was making sure no one was seeing or listening to us. “You won't stay here, Jace. I'm the Alpha, and you will follow what I say,” he whisper-yelled, and I almost burst out laughing again. When will my brother ever grow up? When will he realise I wasn't interested in the Alpha position anymore? Why did he feel threatened by my presence? “You might be the Alpha, Jude. But I'm still a member of this pack. You don't expect me to leave just because you asked me to. Have you forgotten whose throne you are sitting on?” I didn't miss how his body trembled at my words, but I didn't give a damn about him. Not anymore. “Are you here to take back the position?” His tone was low now. “You couldn't even handle it well back then, do you think you are capable of doing it now?” I shook my head at him. Jude was really beyond help. How could he think I was here for the damn Aloha position? And why did he even think he was perfect for the position because my father said he was? “I don't care about the damn Alpha position, Jude! I never wanted it to begin with. I'm here for my fated mate.” I spat. A flicker of shock passed over his features in an instant. “Your fated mate?” He repeated, confusion written all over his features. “And who's that?” He asked again as if he already knew who I was talking about. One thing about Jude was that he knew how to mask his expression so well and I couldn't tell if he knew Lana was my fated mate yet or not. However, at that moment, a familiar figure appeared in the hallway and my lips stretched into a wide smile. “There she is,” I said and Jude looked over his shoulder immediately.
