But it wasn’t the case he was talking about.
Amari understood that instantly. She lowered her glass, careful not to look directly at the man sitting across from her. “Aside from this case and the upcoming banquet, I don’t see any reason to work with you again. Don’t worry.”
Alexander raised an eyebrow in surprise. His gaze lingered on her, trying to read the underlying message in her words. If she wasn’t speaking from the heart, how could she be so certain? Was she really that eager to cut all ties with him? Or was it because of her connection with Sebastian, and how it might interfere with her plans?
