I don’t sleep. I need every second of my allotted time to find either one of the missing werewolves or one of the creatures responsible for the increasing disappearances.
I look over the maps again, trying to see them with new eyes, but there are no patterns to the madness, just as there wasn’t before.
It occurs to me to somehow convince a werewolf to claim responsibility for the abductions just to save Amelia. But whoever I choose would be tortured until they revealed information that would help us find more of the werewolves. When they couldn’t, not only would Amelia be re-sentenced to death, but I would likely be forced to join her.
It occurs to me, too, to head to the dungeon and update my pet on her fate. But I truly cannot spare a second of my time, even for that.
