Owen I’m awoken by someone knocking on my door. When I check my clock, it’s nearly nine in the morning. Which means I’m running late to bring Amelia to the training grounds. Maybe it’s her at the door, but I hope she’s not milling outside her room without me. I open the door with concern only to find Ava on the other side. My face falls, and she notices. “Expecting someone else?” she asks snarkily. I take a step back to slam the door in her face. “Wait.” I pause at her softer tone. “I’m sorry,” she says. “I miss you.” I lean against my door, closing my bleary eyes against the sharp lighting in the hallway.
