Chapter 14After the church service was over, we went back to the house. Everyone was excited to start opening presents.
“One at a time so we can all see,” Mom declared. The adult nodded; the kids groaned.
“Anyone see one they just have to open first?” Mom asked.
“I want to see what Mishy brought,” Joyce said first.
Dad checked a couple tags and held one out. “This one’s yours!” he crowed as he handed it to her.
Joyce ripped the paper off to see that Kuroki box beneath. She opened it carefully and took out the tea bowls from their nest of excelsior.
