I Like Her That Way

Chapter 5

Clarissa's POV:

What happened to him? All I did was take care of him. I don't recall doing anything to him.

I said, "I'm sorry if I did anything that offended you." I said it even though I was pretty sure I didn't do anything like that. 

"Don't give me your worthless sorry. Don't tell me you love me either. I don't want to hear it." He scowled at me. 

What can I do? He COMPLETELY HATES me. He doesn't want to hear me, see me or touch me, but I'm not gonna back down. He's holding back for a reason. I saw the way he reacts to me. I see his eyes and I know that his eyes don't lie even if his mouth does. I can't just leave him either. He has no one but me to take care of him. I would protect him. 

The next morning, he was about to head out, then I did my usual routine by wrapping my arms around him, but this time, he yanked my arms and held them behind my back. He glared into my eyes. 

Why does he keep doing this? Why can't we be a normal couple? When he let go of me, I turned to him with tears in my eyes and asked him,

"How can you expect us to be a couple if you don't want to talk to me, don't want to hear me, don't want to touch me?" My eyes were tearing up. 

"I never expected us to be a couple let alone 'want' to be a couple especially with you."

"But I do. You do too. I can feel a connection. Why are you fighting this?"

"I don't give a damn Clarissa. Just get lost."

"At least try to know me. Talk to me. Be with me. If you still don't like me, then I'll leave you alone."

Then he applied more pressure on my wrists and said,

"How many times should I tell you? I don't want to know you. because I already HATE YOU!"

I just ran to my room and let out all my tears. I cried for atleast an hour. People say you shouldn't be with a person who doesn't want you, but you should be with someone who also wants you in return.

But the heart wants what it wants.

Ricardo's POV:

Ever since I got to work, Clarissa's crying face is popping into my head. I need to get her out of my system, so I have a plan. I know if I took up to her offer on knowing her, I wouldn't be able to hold myself back. I don't do relationships. They all leave and abandon you someday or the other.

She's not like your parents.

I'm going to ask my Secretary to pretend to be my girlfriend in front of Clarissa. She's a very hard working employee and never dares to make a move on me. She's a sincere woman and a single mom. I already know she's not interested in me, so she's the perfect person to execute my plan.

After a few hours of working, I had already told my plan to my Secretary, she refused sternly at first. When I told her that it would help me a lot, she agreed unsurely after telling me about all the consequences to my actions.

Now, it's time to execute my plan. I asked Kate if she was ready and she reluctantly nodded. 

I rang the doorbell with Kate on my left. Clarissa opened the door. Wow, she looked gorgeous even though I know she'd been crying her eyes out. What am I saying? Knock it off conscience, before I knock you out myself.

Clarissa smiled widely when she saw Kate. Kate returned her smile, well that's gonna change. Her smile dimmed a little when she saw me and it was a punch to gut. Why? I don't know.

I said to Clarissa,"Meet my friend, her name is Kate."

Clarissa held her hand out to Kate for a handshake. Kate shook her hand in return.

Clarissa said,"It's a great pleasure meeting you. Please come inside."

I escorted Kate into the house by putting my hand behind her back, but not touching it. To Clarissa, it would like I was.

Seems like Clarissa didn't get the catch. Time for the last part.

I turned around to face Kate and put my face very close to her, so that Clarissa would think we were kissing. I wouldn't mind actually kissing another woman, but this is Kate, my employee and I don't think of her in that way. Plus, kissing another woman feels wrong to me after I married Clarissa.

When I turned around, Clarissa had the most broken, sad, look on her face.

"I'm guessing you both are more than just friends." She said in a broken whisper.

I said,"You're absolutely right. We both were in a relationship, but then you came in the middle."

She said,"Kate, could you please excuse us for a moment?"

Kate nodded her head.

Me and Clarissa headed to the bedroom, then she spilled.

"You could've told me before I fell in love with you. You could've told me when you married me"

"You're just infatuated. I wanted to see the expression on your face."

"You wanted to see the expression on my face?" She asked incredulously.

After she snapped out of it, she asked me, "So what do you want now?"

"I want you out of my life. Always have and always will."

"Will that make you happy?"

"More than anything. I'd be the happiest person in the whole universe! I'd thank god every second."

"If so, then I will take my leave."

"Good."

"I still love you, but I wouldn't want to come in between you and Kate again. I want you to be happy. It was great meeting you and knowing you a little. Thanks for the opportunity. Good luck with Kate. Goodbye then."

She said that and started packing.

I sighed in relief. As she was packing, I held Kate's hands and sincerely thanked Kate about a million times. She shook her head at me in dissapointment. I shrugged and went to my room. I changed into comfortable clothes and went to sleep.
