I can't even control my surprise right now. Actually, there's a lot of fear mixed in there, too. Tyler was about to open the door when he sped away, leaving him stranded in the parking lot.
Ryder shrugs carelessly and I swear that he's fighting off a smile. He doesn't look at me when he answers, "I didn't want him in my car. I didn't offer him a ride."
My mouth is agape. "And why is that? He's your teammate."
Ryder doesn't answer me, and I start panicking. I realize that this is exactly how girls like me could get into trouble. I'm in a car with a guy whose intentions are unclear to me, and we're supposedly headed to this place where I won't have any friends.
