Episode 4

It was yet another day at work for Madelyn. At this time of the day the cafè is not too busy giving her and her best friend time in between orders to converse just as they were right now. "Maddy! I can't believe you! Who goes out to take pictures as early as 4 in the morning!" This reaction was why she didn't want to let Aaliyah know about her little adventure early yesterday morning. If only her big mouth had stopped at waking up early they wouldn't be here. She tried to keep form her but the excitement was just too much. She needed to show someone else the magic she witnessed and who better than her best friend? However Aaliyah keeps proving to her that she knows her a lot better then anyone else but atleast she lasted 24 whooping hours before spilling the beans although that is mostly because Aaliyah had to leave town and just got back like an hour ago. "This here is why I didn't tell you" Madelyn grunted. "Yeah because I keep warning you about how unsafe the streets of New York can be and you keep ignoring me" "Yeah because I can take care of myself" Madelyn retorted. Aaliyah let out a sigh knowing that if they went on arguing, it would get them nowhere so she needed to find another way to drill her point into her best friend's thick skull. "True and no one is saying you can't take care of yourself but all I am saying is you should be careful Maddy. I'm just watching out for you". The look Madelyn gave her told Aaliyah that she had her where she wanted her. "I know and I appreciate it and I promise to be more careful" Came Madelyn's voice. "Thank you. So apart from sneaking off at night what else have you been up to?" "Well… if you must know, you missed the kids play which is the highlight of my week. They were so adorable". "Yeahh I feel so bad but I'll make it up to them". "You know something weird? They other kids were picking on Collin again but I stepped in but he asked me a really weird question". "How weird are we talking about?". "Werewolves. Suprenatural beings weird". "What? I wonder where he got that from. The kid is so odd but really adorable. I really wish he could stand up more for himself". "Yeah me too" Madelyn said. "What did you say to him?" Aaliyah asked. "That it didn't matter as long as he believes in them?" She said not quiet sure if that was the right to say to an already troubled child. "Maddy! Why would you say that. Werewolves or whatever are definitely not real and I can't even imagine them ever being real". Aaliyah said back in shock of what her friend just said. "Well I didn't know what else to say to him and I couldn't just blantly say no to him not after how the other kids teased and mocked him for it". They dropped the topic just as a customer approached the counter to place an order in the cafè. Madelyn and Aaliyah usually work the same shifts which makes them practically inseparable coupled with the fact that they were housemates as well. Just as Madelyn was punching in the order she noticed from her peripheral view that Aaliyah was making eye gestures to the customer in front of her but she paid her no heed not wanting to indulge in her child like attitude. "Hmm did you see that hunk of a man?" Aaliyah all but shouted immediately the said customer was out of ear range and Madelyn could only pray that he didn't hear a word that came out of that inappropriate sentence. "Liya! Tune it down" Madelyn whisper yelled back to her. "Yeah right, that's just because you didn't see how he was eyeing you up as if he would rip your uniform apart and-" "Jesus! Aaliyah please don't complete that" Madelyn said looking to see if the said man was far away from them. "Okayyy what ever sails your boat. Although I highly suggest you write down your digits on a tissue otherwise I'll do you the honors". "You wouldn't dare" Madelyn immediately said to her. "Try me" Madelyn could only muster a motified look at her friend hoping that she doesn't follow throught with it. Meanwhile…. If Xavier thought a lot was already happening in his life before then now he would give anyhting to go back because past few days have been draining and exhausting him. Frankly, the thought of his supposed mate hadn't even crossed his mind till this afternoon when Jay brought it up. He had that issue of the rogues which took up all his time. From going over to the border to confirm the sighting to figuring out why a gang of rogues appeared suddenly in his town to not getting any sleep or rest for the pas 24 hours and food was out of the question. Right now, they were trying to contain the information not wanting it to lead to an up roar from his people after all it's not everyday that a gang of rogues appear out of nowhere. As for finding out why they were there, it was totally useless seeing as they fled immediately he arrived at the scene but something tells him deep down that they will be back soon. "Multiply the security around the border and I want patrol teams to be there 24 hours of everyday. They should rotate at dawn and at sunset. Whatever it takes to keep the pack safe" Xavier spoke with such authority that demanded equal submission. "Yes Alpha" The 3 other men present chroused with a bow. They were all standing over a large dark table placed in the meeting room right in the pack house where a map of the city was spread out. One thing about being Alpha is that everyone had to respect you even your parents, family and friends. The 3 men were his brother, his best friend and the Delta of the pack. The title accorded due respect. The men also understand that when it comes to pack matters, everybody has to be serious. "Alpha Xavier?" Called one of the men. Xavier turned to see his best friend starring at him. It would seem he had spaced out on them. Noticing the other 2 he realised he had not dismissed them. "Dismissed" He said. Two of the men stepped around the room while his best friend remained. "I cannot seem to know what the problem is but I know it goes way beyond the issue with the rogues". Jackson his bestfriend said. Xavier couldn't sah a word to him knowing that if he should then he would probably not hear the end of it and the matter was too delicate and sensitive to be discussed just anywhere because the walls temd to have ears too. "How about a cup of coffee from my favorite cafè downtown?" Jackson asked but Xavier knew it was his own way of saying they should talk somewhere private just incase.
