Chapter 1

Madelyn Adams is a 24-year-old brunette with a combination of blue and brown coloured eyes. She stands at 5'8 with an average body stature. She wasn't plumpy or chubby, but wasn't too slim either. She was just right. People always thought her weird because of her height, saying she was too tall for a lady, but mostly her eyes. It was okay to have just blue, green, grey or brown or black eyes, but apparently it wasn't okay to have a combined colour of eyes even if it was a medical condition. She is a photographer and although she is very talented in every field, she settles for nature. She captures nature with her camera and lens and she makes a whole new world, not that nature in itself is not already beautiful. One could say she is addicted or obsessed with her work because she never steps out without her camera because, in her defense, you never know when a moment will present itself. Today, like any other day, she decided to go out to volunteer at the orphanage where she also goes atleast 4 days a week. As an abandoned child by both parents, she has grown to be independent and always fend for herself. Today the kids were going to be doing a play. She was going to be part of this play and she was to act as a damsel in distress waiting for her sweetheart to ride by on a huge and majestic white horse- or black, to save her. She wasn't exactly pleased about the whole idea because of the role she was given, but she said no to or disappointed the kids, so she decided to just put her enormous ego aside and have fun with the kids at the play. Immediately she stepped into the orphanage today, there was an unusual feeling and air. The kids are always happy when they organise these things. Hence, why didn't it just feel good to be there and part of it all? It also felt as if she belonged right here with these kids just like years ago. Living in the city all by herself is really huge, but she made it and she does it every single day and she is always going to be so proud of herself always. Some call it self-centeredness, but to her she is just being selfless and free. The play was over about an hour or so ago but she still hung around just to savor the feeling of that. Just being here with the kids whenever she can means the world to her because she never wants any child to have to feel as lonely and lost as she did when she was back years ago. Truly, it's a miracle how she has survived. If anyone were to ask how she did it though, she would never give an answer, but all she knows is she did it and that is why she is her own number 1 fan. She took her camera around her neck and snapped more pictures of the kids playing and just having fun. It was truly a sight to see. She scrolled through them and was just savouring the feeling and the happiness everyone was radiating. She couldn't have been happier. "That's not true!" "Hahahha Collin is a cry baby" Madelyn turned to see what the noise was about and was met with the sight of some kids. She immediately recognised them but stayed behind to observe them. "Is not!" "Is too" "You will see I will prove you wrong. They exist and I know it". At this point Madelyn couldn't help but be curious about what the kids were going on about. Deciding they have tormented Collin enough to last him several days, she decides to step in. "Hey guyssss, what are we going on about?" They immediately start rambling and she just smiles and tells them to calm down and let one person talk at a time. "Collin said Werewolves exist." Hmmmm interesting. "And he said even witches too." Came another one's voice. "Oh oh oh and when we asked him to prove it he said he saw it in his dreams, but we all know that dreams are just dreams and Mrs Esther said they don't often come true." "Really!" She exclaimed and looked at Collin. "Okay guys, now let's not pester him about it and just leave him alone, okay?" She then remembered something and added "and kids, dreams do come true if you believe in them." They all chorused "Okay Maddy". She waved them off and turned to Collin, who was now looking down at his feet. She has always felt attached to him, which is probably because she sees a lot of herself in him. "Hi Collin", she says, squatting down to his level. "Hi Maddy" Came his voice. "So what happened?" She asked. "I-" and he went quiet. Madelyn looked at him with an encouraging smile. "I told the other kids about my dream and they called me a liar, so I started crying and then they called me a cry baby". "But are you any of those things?" She asks. He shakes his head but still doesn't look up and she doesn't force him. "Good. Then you shouldn't let what they say get to you". She was truly right when she said she saw a lot of herself in Collin and she could only hope that he will overcome it all for his own sake.
