Kora’s POV
The next morning, the compound was restless. I could hear the low rumble of voices through the stone walls before I even stepped out of Edward’s chambers. It wasn’t the usual morning buzz of the pack going about their duties—this was tighter, sharper, full of questions nobody wanted to say too loudly.
When I finally walked into the hallway, Mara was waiting for me. She straightened the moment she saw me, her eyes flicking over my face, then to my hands as though expecting them to still glow.
“Luna,” she said softly. “The council wants to meet with you.”
My stomach tightened. “Why?”
“They…” She hesitated, glancing back at the end of the hall where a pair of guards stood stiffly. “They’re saying what happened last night needs to be addressed. The pack saw everything.”
