Kora’s POV
The air between us snapped like a live wire. The cold stone beneath my feet seemed to vibrate with the pulse in my veins. Edward’s back was to me, broad and unyielding, but I could feel his muscles tense as he sensed the change in my body.
Aaron’s smirk grew sharper. “There she is,” he whispered, his eyes gleaming with a feverish kind of excitement. “The real Kora.”
“Stay where you are,” Edward barked. His voice was deep, commanding, laced with a threat only an Alpha could deliver.
Aaron didn’t flinch. “You can’t cage fire, Edward. It’ll burn through you eventually.”
I stepped out from behind Edward before he could stop me. The glow under my skin flickered like molten light, curling around my hands, creeping up my arms. My cloak slid off my shoulders and pooled on the stone
