Kora’s POV Morning came slow and gray, the kind of morning that made everything feel heavier than it already was. The snow hadn’t stopped, and the silence outside was thick enough to drown in. I hadn’t slept all night. Edward was still asleep beside the fire, his arm thrown over a pillow like he’d fallen into exhaustion mid-watch. I sat near the window, watching the faint outline of dawn creep through the clouds. Every breath I took fogged the glass, and for some reason, it made me feel more alive than I wanted to be. Because I’d already decided what I had to do. There was no other way — I’d gone over every scenario in my head. If Aaron was rebuilding the veil from the other side, then the only way to stop him was to cut off the bridge between our worlds completely. That bridge was me.
