EVA'S POV
I could feel my chest tightening, my hands trembling as I stared at Daniel.
My heart wanted to scream, my mind wanted to lash out, and yet, I was frozen by the weight of the truth he had just revealed.
“So… Rachel…She… She actually paid you? To come back into my life to deceive me into marrying you?”
Daniel lowered his head, shame clouding his features.
“I didn’t want to, Eva…I swear I didn’t want to hurt you… but she… she made it impossible to refuse…she reached out to me, told me she wanted you distracted, that you needed to be manipulated, and… and I went along.”
I felt my hands ball into fists, nails digging into my palms.
The anger rose inside me, hot and suffocating.
My chest heaved, and for a moment, I wanted to shout, to scream, to tear something apart.
