Fire In Her Vains

298 Words
Elena didn’t flinch when the first gunshot echoed outside the safe house. She was already dressed in black—combat boots laced tight, hair pinned back like a crown of war. The softness Luca once touched was still there, buried, but tonight she was something else. Something forged. The screen in front of her blinked as she sent the first batch of files to five different anonymous sources—international watchdogs, journalists, military whistleblowers. It wasn’t just a leak. It was *detonation*. Outside, Luca stood guard, rifle in hand, eyes sweeping the alley like a man who knew death might walk through it. But when he turned and saw Elena, a quiet awe passed through his gaze. “You’re sure?” he asked. “No more fear,” she said. “My father taught me how to lie, how to manipulate. But he forgot to teach me how to *break free*.” She picked up the burner phone. One call. One number. One voice answered. “Elena.” “Tell my father,” she said, voice cold as steel, “I’m not hiding anymore. And if he wants to silence me… he better bring more than men in suits.” She hung up. That night, five high-ranking officials resigned. Two were arrested at airports. Elena’s father’s name trended worldwide. But she wasn’t finished. With Luca at her side, they burned the last of the evidence-laced safe houses her father owned. Each flame lit a path forward. Each explosion echoed revenge. “This was never just about me,” Elena whispered, watching smoke curl into the night. “It’s about everyone he crushed to build his empire.” Luca took her hand. “Then let’s burn it all down.” Her eyes gleamed. Not with tears. But with fury.
