Ch 20 Locating A Mate

I finally sat my coffee mug down and looked her straight in her glaring eyes, "It is obvious that you have something to say, you have been sitting there giving me the evil eye a while now." I said, narrowing my eyes. No sooner than it came out of my mouth did Janae start to smile, bouncing up and down in her baby chair for me to pick her up. I walked over and picked her up, she definitely had the entire pack wrapped around her little finger.

She was growing so fast, as werewolf babies often do. She would be crawling very soon. Soon after that, she would be walking and talking. We both looked up to see her parents walk into the kitchen. She started to bounce in my arms as soon as she saw Enza and Andre. Her mother walked over and picked her up, "Thanks Alpha." She said. I immediately felt tension when they noticed me. "Is everything okay?" I asked, looking at both of them.

I could have sworn that I saw a flash of anger in Andre's eyes directed at me. "Did you pick up a gift for the baby's introduction party?" Andre asked me. I nodded. There it was again. Anger. Although Andre was trying to hide it, he was definitely angry with me. I could not imagine why. I had not done anything against him that I could think of. "Enza, do you mind if I speak with Alpha for a moment?" Andre said. She gave her husband a very wary look. She seemed to hesitate a few seconds before leaving the room.

As soon as Enza left the room, he did not try to hide his rage and contempt for me. He looked at me eye to eye and said," You are constantly doing all of this self-serving s**t and not caring who you hurt in the process. You never think about how your careless actions destroy the lives of innocent people. But I promise you this Paul, if you f**k this up and destroy the beautiful gift that is about to be given to you, I will kill you my f*****g self." He snarled at me.

He took me completely off guard. At that moment, I had to remind myself that this was Andre and not some random person. Any other person that challenged the strength of my wolf, would have to prove it then and there. I feared no wolf, including Andre's. Although I knew that Andre was just as powerful and dangerous as I was.

This was Andre, my Beta . He was also the closest family I had. This would not be the first time that we had an argument and it would not be the last. " What the f**k are you talking about?" I asked him. Andre slammed the table so hard that my coffee cup went flying off the table, "I said it and I meant it. If you f**k this up, I promise you, I will f*****g kill you." His eyes were blazing and every word that came out of his mouth was a snarl. With those final words, he got up and left. "What the hell just happened?"

I was very confused by Andre's words and actions as I got dressed for Janae's party. I wondered if he had heard some of my thoughts about Enza during an unintentional pack link. I dismissed that quickly. Had he heard my thoughts, he would have long tried to kill me before now.

A few hours had passed and it was time for the party. I was rushing to get dressed. I looked out of the window and realized that people were starting to get into cars. I knew I had to hurry up. The last thing I wanted to do was to ride with Andre and Enza. I refused to discuss anything with him while he was in his lady mood.

I ran down the stairs while putting on my shoes. I nearly tripped as I hurried to the cars. My heart sank as I got to the last step. "You got to be shitting me", I swore out loud. The only car that was left with space was Enza and Andre. To say that I was annoyed would be an understatement. Because I loved my baby cousin is the only reason that I chose to go. There was nothing that I would not do for Janae. Even if it meant sitting in a car with her bitchy dad until we got to our destination.

I got in the car without a word and sat down. It was a good thing Janae was in the car and she provided such a good distraction. She was either wanting attention or going from person to person giving little kisses. After a while, she finally fell asleep on my lap. I did not realize that I had dozed off until Andre had woken me to get Janae.

I stretched and got out of the car, relieved to finally get away from him before he decided that he had more words that he needed to say to me. I rushed up the steps into Enza's Family Estate, walking through the door. As soon as I walked into the door, I froze. My heart started racing. Being led by the same instinct that all male wolves had followed since the beginning of time, I followed the most beautiful and intoxicating scent that I had ever smelled. Even though I had never scented it before, I already knew it.

When I saw what I had scented, I felt confused. Why was I scenting Enza? A second later, the mirror copy of the woman looked at me and said," Alpha Paul, I would like to introduce you to my sister, Breonna. Few things surprised me, I had seen it all, but this shocked the speech out of me. I looked at Andre and he did not appear to be shocked at all. Before I knew it, I was walking toward her. I could not stop myself if I wanted to. Which I didn't. I knew before my wolf said "MINE!"
