The guy with me quickly pulls me away slightly, but I refuse to let go of my arms completely, which I circled around his neck during the kiss.
He must have noticed my comfort with his body, he never bother to push me away again. Instead, he lifts me up to my feet, muttering a question, “Are you alright?”
He stands tall, maybe some inches added to Gerald's tall, I think, as I stand facing him.
“I am,” I answer with a smile.
For the first time, I regard the guy’s face closely and everything about him looks so perfect, so pure, even more than Gerald. I have completely lost herself to my stare myself, forgetting Gerald is some inches, watching.
The guy is damn handsome, probably in his early twenties like me, and I can’t stop staring at his face, drooling at his gray eyes, the most dazzling, perfect, appealing to ocean blue eyes like mine.
His nose is petite, but points like a compass, and is so cute. Another thing I find gorgeous is his lordly beard, covering the chin like an earthly black clad and the most tidy I have ever seen.
His skin glitters, like pure gold, refined by the best goldsmith in the world.
The guy blinks while watching me study his face. I don’t know why he found my action amusing. I know he may be thinking it is normal for women to stand, mouth agape, staring, drooling and lusting after him. I never minded being in such categories of women as long as it brings the smile he is letting out on his face.
I just want to be at least different in one term. The kiss… and the feeling of my lips on his lips… the most stupefied taste he must ever taste.
Though he doesn’t look like someone who was into many women. I don’t even know who he is. Maybe the company hired new executives, and he is one of the lucky new managers.
However, his gaze leaves me and moves far behind me to the figure standing behind me. That is when I remember that Gerald is still standing there.
I don’t bother to follow his gaze and give no damn who Gerald feels about this.
The ring… I recall. It slipped from my hand when I almost fell.
Lowering my face, searching for the ring, I see it, laying some inches of my feet.
I bend and pick it up.
I find the guy’s eyes roaming from me to Gerald’s disdainful grin.
With a deep breath and the worst confidence I can muster, I go on a knee in front of the guy, ignoring Gerald, presenting the ring before the guy and my eyes glisten with desire.
“Will you be mine, now and forever…?” My voice holds a lot of euphoric confidence.
“Scarlett!” Gerald calls in anger.
As if Gerald is a complete ghost, I ignore him. He doesn’t matter anymore. The guy is all that matters to me.
Feeling a flourish of fear scuttle through my mind, my heart weakens, thinking he will reject me since the guy’s eyes hold no single expression to show he will accept me, though his eyes are fasten on mine.
Suddenly, out of the blue moon, his lips curve into a smile, and I hear him speak, “I do,” his voice is soft with a smooth air sending relief over my heart with exhilaration.
The guy's fingers straighten in front of my eyes, and I, in excitement, insert the ring into his finger.
As I am celebrating my win with a jolly heart and a deep and passionate kiss from the guy after he helps me to my feet, I catch the expression of Gerald’s face. His face goes pale. His mouth slims and his eyes constrict into a gash of vehemence.
However, I don’t allow it to hurt me in any way.
My thrill turns into shock, rubbing over me and cutting all the speech out of my lips. Not that vehemence on Gerald’s face but the guy’s hand around my waist as he is about to lead me into his office.
“Boss, she is my girlfriend!” Gerald screams, his voice sickening. He must be unable to take it anymore.
The guy stops in his tracks and I look straight at Gerald for the first time since I left his office and I notice Lillian standing by Gerald’s office door, watching too, her hands folded against her chest.
Nonchalantly, I turn my gaze back to Gerald. His unruffled demeanor suddenly blasts into wild fists of fury. He slams his feet hard against the ground angrily.
“Mister Gerald Craig, you call me,” the guy mumbles, replying to Gerald.
My body melts into his embrace, loving the sweet smell of him and I don’t even care about how Gerald feels.
But wait! The guy can’t be Gerald’s boss. He doesn’t look like the same person I know as his boss. Gerald’s boss is Jayden Turner and he isn’t him.
“Sir, she is my …girl… friend,” Gerald's voice shudders, his eyes shutter from the man to me, pointing to me as if the guy stole me from him, making me let out a morseous scoff. “We are …” he stops.
“Oh, I see!” the guy’s eyes light up. “But unfortunately, Mister Gerald, she is now my girlfriend,” the guy raises his hand up, showing the ring.
I can see Gerald on a pin and needle, his temple throbbing, unable to believe the flash of my proposal. I know he thinks it is a prank. On several occasions, I have pranked him. But unfortunately, this isn’t a prank, and he has to get it.
“Sir, there must be some misunderstanding…” Gerald tries to explain, but the guy stops him.
“That will be later. I need some time with my girlfriend…” the guy says, dragging me away toward his office and shutting the door on Gerald.
I am floored, heaving a relieved sign, loving how the guy tackles Gerald.
Who is this man? Why does Gerald have so much respect and regard for him, calling him boss?
My confusion doesn’t stop there, it keeps beeping.
“Dear, please, do sit down.” he says as he ushers me to a couch. His voice sounds so calm and sweet.
Sitting down, I wow by the magnificent office. I don’t think there is any office as big as this.
Apart from the couch section which is actually a large sitting room with appliances partaking of it, the main office was divided by ceiling to floor marvel glass and was large enough to be twice the sitting room.
A large portrait of a family hanging on the wall faces me. I have no idea that the Turner family is a large family. There are six, including their parents.
Apart from Jayden and Vivian Turner, I haven’t met any of the family, except, of course, the guy who stood beside Jayden with a wild smile on his face.
“That is me beside Jayden, you know him, don’t you?” the guy asks as he sits beside me, looking at his family picture.
Who won’t know the most eligible richest bachelor in New York? Even the little babies can identify him among others. His name has been circulated for years.
Turning to him, slightly turning my body, “I do. I have no idea Jayden has a brother, not only one, he has two hand…” I stop not trying to sound so weird, biting my lips.
“Oh! That,” he says innocently, pointing to my lips.
My face turns white as shame washes over me with my shyness surging. I touch my lips several times and find nothing.
“Sorry,” he says, and then his lips cover mine. My eyes widen sticking to his.
This time, his kiss is slow, burning into my gut.
After minutes of lips smacking, I pull him away, quickly turning my back, trying to catch my breath.
“I am…” I say, hoping the earth will open and swallow me for cutting off the most precious mouth away from mine.
“Don’t tell me you are this shy after all the feats you put out there?” His words sound like a tease, but I find it mockery.
Suddenly, my phone rings. I sit not knowing how to turn to get it from my bag. I just don’t want to look into his eyes right away, or I will melt.
Here comes the getaway, the door opens and a lady in a pink suit that barely covers her thighs and auburn hair, walks in with a smile. Her left hand hides behind her back.
“Mister Dexter, can we have…?” the lady stops, startling to see me.
“You don’t tell me you will have a visitor,” she questions the guy, but her body is facing me.
“Hey… Ms. Linda. This is …”
“Scarlett,” I help him out, not turning to him.
“This is Scarlett, my girlfriend,” his voice is soft and sweet, making me turn to him and catch the smile on his face.
Seeing me looking at him, his face creeps into a sweet smile.
“Arrange for me a date for two at the best restaurant,” he says, and my breath almost catches up.
Is he trying to please me so soon? He doesn’t look like a flashy type. But looking at him, he looks like he has just won the lottery.
I am not the only one who is shocked, Ms Linda's face almost carves into a deep frown. However, she is able to get out of it and is replaced with an angry frown.
“Alright, I will do that now,” Ms. Linda says and then turns slowly, slowly swerves something she hides on her back to her front and walks out slowly, regarding me scornfully.
Immediately the door closes behind her, the guy turns to me, stretching forth his hand, “I am Dexter Turner, the heir to the Turner conglomerate,” he introduces himself with a charming grin.
