Rose's POV
The guests in the ballroom didn't notice the shock on my face when my father announced that Kane and I would be consummating our union that night. This oblivion only worsened the case because it was impossible. Kane would never get intimate with me,no matter how much the wolf's bond caused his body to yearn for me.
It occurred to me then that father and the rest of the council had ulterior motives. It was probably the reason they attended the event on such short notice. Knowing fully well that Kane might not be able to refuse, they wanted to use the opportunity to goad Kane into sealing the political agreement between them!
