ROSE.
When he opened the door and looked at me, something inside me shifted. The anger in his eyes suddenly seemed to soften and I suddenly felt a rush of emotions for reasons I didn't know. He had always been so strong, so imposing within the few hours we have known each other. But right now, there was something different in his eyes. He looked troubled, almost vulnerable, like he wanted to say something to me.
And when he asked me why I was here, I couldn't speak. It felt like the words refused to come out. He took a step closer, and I could feel the heat radiating from his body. My heart started to race and I tried to remind myself why I was here, why this was necessary. But when he leaned in, all my thoughts scattered like leaves in the wind.
His lips brushed against mine, tentative at first. I felt a sudden and tingling jolt of electricity shoot through me. Against my will, I responded, pressing my lips to his. The kiss deepened, and soon our tongues were fighting for dominance. Then I felt his strong hands on my waist, pulling me closer. My body reacted on its own, moulding against his as if we were two halves of a whole. The taste of him was intoxicating. I tried to resist, to pull back, but my body betrayed me. I wanted more. His taste and scent was intoxicating. It filled my senses, made it hard to think and his lips moved with a fierce intensity that I soon found my lips matching his pace as our breaths mingled. I felt so good, so alive. Each touch, each kiss sent waves of pleasure running through me. My knees went weak too, and I clung to him for support. I knew this was wrong, but at that moment, nothing else mattered. All I could think about was how much I wanted him. Then, as suddenly as it began, he pushed me away.
I staggered back a few steps but regained my balance quickly, breathless and disoriented. My lips tingled from the kiss and my body ached with a longing I couldn't deny or understand. I could feel the heat pool between my legs as I stood there, while my n*****s strained against my dress. I couldn't believe how needy and yearning I felt.
"That was a mistake!" He growled, wiping his red lips with the back of his hands. "It won't happen again. Now, what do you want?" He demanded angrily.
It almost seemed he was trying to stall his feelings because he hated me. I shook my head, flustered. "I'm sorry. It was a mistake...too."
"Speak immediately or get out of my face!" He snapped.
I took a deep breath, remembering why I came here. It was a risky move, but I felt one of us had to say it. "I feel the same way as you," I blurted out, fighting the frog in my throat. "I don't want this union either and I'll be very willing to walk away if you want."
He didn't believe me. His eyes narrowed and he growled yet again. "I don't need to agree to any plan with you. I married you because I wanted to. You're only saying this because the elders asked you to. I know you're here to spy on me but I never expected you'd already be doing your job this early. We just got off the wedding reception!"
"No, that's not true," I said, trying to deny his accusation but he cut me off.
"Shut up," he ordered, but then he took a deep breath. "We will go out tomorrow just as the elders instructed. And you know they could be watching. Make sure you behave yourself!"
After that, he walked into the room and shut the door with a loud bang. I felt disappointed but I wasn't so surprised he acted this way. I glanced back when I felt a presence behind me. It was his guard.
"You should leave." He said coldly.
I nodded and walked back to my room. I had just woken up from sleep the next morning when a knock sounded on my door. It was my personal maid who briefly introduced herself as Elsie. She was surprisingly, quite nice.
"I received your schedule from the palace and I'm here to get you ready for your first date with the Alpha."
"Date?" I asked, but then I remembered the requirements of the elders. Was that what he chose to call it? A date? I thought ‘A function’ would fit better.
"It seems you are confused, but don't worry. I'll guide you through all of it."
I nodded. "Thank you. But where will that be?"
"You'll be going to the gym together."
I nearly burst out laughing. I was confused. Why the gym of all places.
"Why the gym?" I asked but she didn't comment and instead walked into the bathroom to prepare my bath. I knew it was because he didn't want to appear in public with me right now. I bet he was still trying to get used to being married to an Omega. I knew he was ashamed of me, or perhaps still embarrassed because of the kiss last night.
"We should hurry." My maid said. "You need to go down for breakfast with the Alpha. It's customary during your honeymoon week so you can get to know each other better."
I nodded and had my bath in the lavender-scented tub immediately before going down for breakfast.
But on my way, I stopped when I heard Kane's voice. I peered in the direction and saw him speaking to three huge men, then I listened closely to hear what he was saying but I'd come at the end of the conversation and the only words I'd been to catch were. "... make sure she comes back with you. You can go now."
That was the only thing I heard before I heard footsteps coming in my direction. I straightened up and walked to the dining room, past the four of them as if nothing had happened. I was a bit curious about what I'd heard but since there was not a single clue what he was talking about, I pushed the thought out of my mind.
Breakfast was silent, and I was thankful. We didn't talk at all, so I finished quickly and went back to change into my gym clothes- tight pants and a tank top.
Just as I had expected, the whole affair turned out to be very awkward because of the silence and also because I struggled with my newfound attraction to him. I kept catching myself staring at his biceps, perfectly toned abs and his strong jawline.
The confusion set in every now and then as I wondered why this was happening but it was normal, I reminded myself. Alphas had nearly perfect bodies, so it was a no brainer why I felt this way. We didn't speak to each other after that until that night. We were in the middle of dinner when the same men he had sent out earlier returned. They whispered something to him and I noticed how his eyes lit up instantly. He stood up abruptly.
"I have to leave," he said. "I might be back. If I'm not, you can go back to your chambers."
I managed a small nod before he disappeared through the door with the three men in tow. Curious, I stood up and followed him discreetly. There was something going on, something I needed to be aware of. Stopping just by the edge of the wall, I peered into the hallway that led to his chambers.
He stopped there, as if waiting for somebody. That was the moment some guards walked in with a lady. The first thing that caught me off guard was her uncanny resemblance with Alpha Arthur, and of course, her stunning beauty.
She had long, raven-black, flowing hair, eyes that sparkled like emeralds and flawless skin. Kane chuckled and spread his arms. She walked into his arms, wrapping her arms around him in a hug.
I grimaced, wondering what Kane was up to. As I continued to watch both of them from my hiding spot, I caught myself gripping the edge of the wall so hard that my knuckles turned white. My heart pounded faster and I felt a strange, bitter taste in my mouth. It was jealousy, and it felt so bizarre. I noticed my breathing had quickened and my palms were sweaty. Why did it bother me so much to see him with her? I caught myself again but this time I was clenching my fists, the nails digging into my palms. The way he held her, the way he looked at her, it made my heart ache.
I snapped out of my jealous thoughts when I heard footsteps behind me. My body tensed as I wheeled toward the sound to run but in my haste, I lost my balance. My foot slipped on the polished floor, and I stumbled. But I managed to catch myself at the last second.
"s**t!" I cursed. I didn't stop running until I reached my room and slammed the door shut behind me, panting.
