KANE As soon as I heard the noise, Samantha and I froze. "What was that?" She asked, concerned. I pulled away from the hug. "I'll check it out." I replied before walking to the spot where the sound came from. I didn't see anything, but I could sense Rose's scent. She had been here! I shook my head and growled internally, knowing she had been watching. I was right when I suspected her. I knew she wasn't genuine, and this just confirmed my suspicion that she was an eyeliner for the elders, a damn spy! And now she was surely going to tell them what she saw. Well, I didn't care, because with Samantha here, I was free to reject her and fulfil my father's last wish. It was only Samantha's presence that held off much of my anger. "Is everything okay?" She asked, her voice was packed with concern as she sauntered over towards me. I forced a smile and nodded. "Yes, everything is fine. One of these silly maids might have been here." I said, just before another maid walked in to let me know Samantha's room was ready. I dismissed the maid and turned to her, taking her hands and looking into her eyes. "You've had a long journey, you should get some rest because tomorrow is going to be very busy. There's a lot to talk about." She chuckled softly. "Three hour's journey isn't a lot, but OK. I will." I nodded and smiled back, watching as she walked away. As soon as she was gone, my smile dampened as I remembered Rose. I had to warn her to stay away from my business. I didn't want her poking her nose where she wasn't supposed to because I'd slice it off, not literally, but I'd do something that would hurt that bad without minding that she was my mate. When I walked into the dining room, she was gone. I sighed heavily, shaking my head. None of this would have happened if I'd waited a little longer. I decided to give up on talking to her and go talk to my mother about calling off the marriage. I had no intention of talking to her any longer since she would be gone soon. But on the way to my mother's room, the memories of last night and our time at the gym flooded back. The mere thought of it made my heart jump. I still remembered what I'd felt the moment my wolf announced she was our mate. The pull I'd felt at that moment was unlike anything I'd felt towards any other woman, not even Samantha. It was just so strong that I had no option than to lean in and kiss her so hard that things would have gone very wrong if I didn't stop myself. The way she looked at me after our kiss told me she felt the same way I did, but I guessed neither of us had any idea what was going on in our heads. I just wanted to keep it that way and cut off any of the feelings before it was late. The thoughts didn't stop there as our awkward time at the gym came racing back. I'd decided to pick the gym because I was still unable to figure out what it would look like, holding hands with an Omega outside. The embarrassment I had faced at the altar was more than enough but choosing the gym didn't turn out to be the best choice either because my wolf kept tugging at me the whole time. When she wasn't looking, I couldn't take my eyes off her round, shapely behind and soon my c**k was straining against my pants, wanting to be let free. The desire I felt at those moments was irresistible. I tried to fight the thoughts and push them away, reminding myself that she was a wolfless and worthless Omega, a plain Jane, a spy installed by the elders but the images of her shapely body kept bombarding my mind. When I reached my mother's chambers, she was with some of her maids who were busy polishing her nails. Unasked, the maids walked out of the room immediately. She looked up and smiled. "Hey, Son. How is it going?" I let out a heavy sigh before sitting on the edge of the bed beside her. I wondered how she was going to react when she heard Rose was my mate. "I reached out to Samantha yesterday and she replied. She's in her room. right now." Her face lit up but the light soon died out of it. "That's great news, but I'm gonna suggest you wait a little while before rejecting Rose. Since you took vows, you could set her up and see what happens. I'm sure the elders will understand that, and given that she's Omega, nobody will try to vouch for her. Just wait a little bit more, a week or two will do. You've got a lot of time to be with Samantha." She said as her face lit up again. I nodded and continued. "Mother, there is a problem." Her smile faded yet again. "What is it this time?" I took a deep breath. "Rose came by last night, for some stupid reason and..." I stopped, feeling the blood beat in my brain. "Kane... don't tell me you slept with her." "No, Mother, of course not. Why would I even think of that? I just..." The words stuck. "Good but could you please tell me what's going on. You have me hanging on tenterhooks right now." She lamented. "Mother, Rose is my mate, my fated mate. I found out yesterday" Her eyes widened in shock as she turned to me in disbelief. The silence that followed was deafening, then she broke the silence, still visibly shaken. "Are you sure?" "Yes," I said. "But now that Samantha is back, I can reject Rose, right? Like we've discussed." She pondered for a moment, and that prompted me to ask. "Is everything okay?" "There will be consequences, Son." She said softly even though her eyes were packed with fear. "Since she's your fated mate, the vows you both took have bonded you already, even though you haven't mated. And if you reject her, she's going to die and there's a slim chance you could die too. She won't survive the rejection because she's Omega. But if you're willing to get rid of her, then there is no problem. The ball is in your court."
