Alina & Jaxon POV
⸻
Alina’s POV
They told me to walk into the chamber alone.
I did.
But my heart stayed behind—with him.
The air inside was like breathing memory—old, sacred, laced with the scent of iron and moonflower. At the center, a basin shimmered like a frozen lake.
“Only she who carries both eyes may unbind the seal,” the voice echoed.
I moved closer.
The basin stirred. Water turned to glass. Then it showed me everything.
Jaxon’s eyes.
Darius’s fire.
My mother’s smile.
My own face… twisted, empty, crowned in ash.
“To open the seal,” the voice said, “you must give up what you love most.”
My body froze.
No.
Not this.
⸻
Jaxon’s POV
I wasn’t supposed to be able to follow her.
But the mark on my chest burned—a warning, a bond—and I ran.
The old Council guards tried to stop me. I didn’t see them fall behind. I only saw the chamber doors.
And I felt her scream.
I burst through them just as the mark on her left wrist flared like lightning. Her eyes met mine—wild, broken, glowing.
“They want me to choose,” she gasped. “You… or the world.”
I didn’t hesitate.
“Then I’ll choose for you.”
I stepped toward her—but the stone cracked beneath us. A runic ring ignited around the basin.
And the voice returned.
“If love survives, the world will burn. If the seal breaks, the heart must shatter.”
⸻
Alina’s POV
Tears fell freely now.
“I can’t lose you.”
“You won’t,” he whispered, pulling me to him.
“But if I choose you… they all die.”
⸻
Jaxon’s POV
I held her tight.
“If I die, but you live free… that’s enough for me.”
Her mark began to rise from her skin—lifting like silver smoke. My own mark answered.
The basin burst into flame.
⸻
Both POV (Split in Bold):
Alina: “There must be another way!”
Jaxon: “There never is when fate is involved.”
Alina: “Then screw fate.”
Jaxon: “Then take my heart. And break the seal.”
The air exploded with power.
And the voice of the First Alpha whispered from deep within the stone:
“The choice has been made.”
As the seal split open and ancient energy poured into the world once more, Alina collapsed—
—and Jaxon vanished into shadow.
