Mother stormed into the room, flanked by Eli, Arum, Zapada and my Father.
"How far apart are her contractions?" Mother asked.
"Ten minutes apart," Mama Tasmina said, calmly.
"You are close then, my darling," mother said, smiling at me serenely.
After the flapping around of Keira and Asha, her calm demeanour alongside Mama Tasmina's composure immediately relaxed me.
"My jün, are you alright?" Eli asked.
Though his voice was calm, I saw the worry in his eyes. He took my hand in his and I felt warmth spread throughout my body at his touch. When the next contraction came, I closed my eyes and whimpered. But his touch made it far more bearable than the previous one had been. It lasted just under a minute.
"That contraction came sooner. They're getting shorter," Mama Tasmi
