“Birdie, I'm getting late," Andrew said, checking the time on his wristwatch. "I have to take a class in an hour. I will drop you at the dormitory, and then I will help you with other things later." "I will manage, dad," Dove said with a smile. "I can go to the dormitory on my own." "No, I will drop you there," Andrew said. "I will reach class on time. I'm a fit man." Dove laughed. "Yes. Dad. But do you want to scare away my roommates? What if one of them is from your department? I don't mind people knowing I'm professor Harrison's daughter, but the girls may be intimidated." She didn't know what reputation her father had as a professor. But she wouldn't want to get visited by her professor in the dormitory. Andrew sighed. "You are right. But I will still drop you outside the dormitory." True to his word, he dropped her outside the dormitory. He was teaching on campus for a while. He knew how things worked here. If a boy saw a pretty girl holding this much luggage, they would crowd her and offer help. Some of them could be very persuasive, and he didn't want to overwhelm her on the very first day. Moreover, not all boys were good. He would wish that his girl focused more on studies than boys here. He had everything settled– not just any loafer would dare to date the professor's daughter. As Dove entered the dormitory with her luggage, she saw a group of girls walking past her. They were giggling and blushing while whispering to each other. An amused smile played on her lips. How could she forget that once she was at this age? Just meeting eyes with a boy could flush your cheeks. She knew that she had an old soul, and she would not be affected by such things. Yet, she was looking forward to things as interesting as many that had to come. She took the elevator to her floor while she was keeping her luggage inside. A very cute girl with curly ginger hair and big glasses pulled her head out of the book that she was holding and said in almost a whisper, "Let me help you please." Dove's heart melted. Who is this cutie? The girl was extremely short. Freckles like stardust covered all of her nose and cheeks and when she spoke, it felt as if someone was playing soothing music. "Thank you a lot," Dove offered a smile. The girl seemed to smile, but she instantly lowered her head and dragged the suitcases inside the elevator. "Which floor are you on?" The girl whispered. "Eighth," Dove answered. "Oh," The girl whispered and looked up at Dove. Dove saw a pair of piercing brown eyes hiding behind those big glasses. She didn't say anything as she thought that the girl would be overwhelmed by having a chat with a random girl. The elevator door opened and, without saying anything, the girl picked up half of the luggage and walked ahead while Dove was standing there wondering about the girl and her luggage. Suddenly, the girl stopped and turned to ask, "What is your room number?" "808," Dove answered. "Oh," The girl whispered and looked at Dove for a long time and then nodded her head. As cute as the girl was, she was a little weird. However, instincts told Dove to keep following. The air between the two of them shifted as they were left alone in the corridor. Dove felt as if the girl came a little closer to her. "Stay away from girls of Room no 801, 802 and 803," The girl whispered, meeting her brown eyes. "Why?" Dove couldn't help but ask. Was this cutie talking bad?;No, she couldn't think so. Before the girl could say anything, a few girls from the said room numbers came out and began screaming and screeching. One even began to pull others' hair. Oh, it wasn't something that Dove expected to see on the very first day of her being in a girl's dormitory. And yes, this was also the reason why she was scared of living here in her last life. "They are seniors," The girl whispered. "They have their own way of bonding." "b***h, you slept with my boyfriend! How dare you?" One screamed. "If I don't sleep with your next boyfriend, I won't be Daphney Smith!" One girl threatened another. "How dare you flirt with my father?" Another screamed. "I will never accept you as my stepmother." "I can see it, " Dove said in a very uncomfortable tone. If this was their way of bonding, she would very much like to stay aloof. "Do not ask anything from room no 805," The girl whispered. "The she-devil lives here. She usually doesn't come out but if she does come out, don't look at her, and you will be fine." "Why? Is she scary?" Dove asked in a whisper. The girl gulped, touched her glasses and nodded her head. She whispered as another door opened, and a girl dressed in a sexy leather corset top that was showing half of her boobs and was wearing leather jeans, came out. This third girl grinned at the ginger head and said, while lighting a cigarette, "Hey, tiny thing. Want a puff?" The gingerhead shook her head. The She-devil shrugged. "Whatever!" She turned her gaze to look at Dove and raised her threaded brow. "New admission?" Dove nodded her head. The She-devil didn't say anything and looked at her from head to toe and then an amused smile played on her lips. "Fun," The She-Devil said and went from there whistling and holding the cigarette between her index and middle finger. "If you ever need any fashion advice, go to room no 805 or 806. It's filled with fashionistas," The girl whispered as they began walking. "What if I need help with my studies?" Dove could not help but ask. The girl pointed at room number 807. "What about 804?" Dove asked. "Is it yours?" "Hush," The girl said, putting a finger on her lips. She looked here and there and added, "We don't talk about 804. We don't want to know about it. Always pretend 804 doesn't even exist." Dove wanted to look back to see 804, but she was not allowed to look back as the girl dragged her to the other side of the hall. When they reached 808, she asked again, "You didn't say where you were." At the same time, the door to room number 808 opened and a girl was inside in a very flimsy dress and dancing to the beats of a foreign song. The room was dark except for the cringe-red lights that were coming out from the speakers. As she saw the two girls at the door, she went dancing and held the hands of the girls and made them dance with her. It was only when the song ended that the lights automatically switched on and the girl stopped dancing and waved at the two of them. "Hey, ladies!" She said with an enthusiastic smile and hugged the tiny girl and left a lot of kisses on her face. Then, she turned to Dove and began hugging and air-kissing her. "Hi, I'm sweetie, "the girl said with a laugh. When she saw the serious look on Dove's face, she laughed. She patted Dove's arm and added, "Just kidding. I'm just sweet. You can also call me honey." "Aisha, "the ginger head said, and the other girl pouted. "Baby, call your baby Honey or sweetie," Aisha said. "Is she my roommate?" Dove turned to look at the tiny girl. "We all are roommates," Aisha announced, and hugged the two of them. Dove understood that Aisha was a hugger, and she couldn't even push the girl away as she didn't get any harmful vibes from her. "We are roommates?" Dove asked the tiny girl. "Yes!" Aisha announced. She went to the door and got Dove's luggage. The two girls helped her to settle in the room. Her bed was made. Her study table was set. Her closet was neatly arranged. "You have a pretty name," Aisha commented. Scarlett, the gingerhead, got snacks for Dove from her desk drawers. When Aisha tried to sneak some for her, the tiny thing slapped her hands. "Thank you," Dove smiled. She looked at the snacks and said, "We can all share. I even brought some with me." "Where are you from?" Aisha asked after filling her stomach with snacks that the three of her roommates got. "I am from Capital, "Dove told them. "I was born and raised here." "Then, why are you staying in dorms?" Scarlett asked. "Scarlett baby, not everyone wants to live under the thumb of their mother," Aisha snickered. "I am from a foreign country. I came to this country to get freedom from my family." Scarlett raised her hand like she was in class and said, "I came to study." The two girls laughed at her cuteness. "What is your major?" Dove asked. "Education," Scarlett answered, blinking her eyes. "What is your major?" She turned to ask Aisha. "What do you guess?" Aisha asked. "Music? Fine arts?" Dove guessed. From Aisha's cool and chic style, she guessed that this girl was from the music department. Aisha smirked. "How cliché! I'm from computer science." Dove was surprised. "That's great." "I can hack into your boyfriend's computer. Wanna try?" Aisha gave her an evil idea. "No. No. I'm fine." Dove said. Remind her not to get on this girl's bad side. "You are no fun," Aisha pouted. "Are we going for dinner?" Dove asked Scarlett in a whisper. "In the university cafeteria?" Scarlett nodded her head. "You will get used to Aisha soon." "Babies, let's go!" Aisha said as she held her girlfriends' hands and went out dressed in a classy outfit. Oh, she was dressed as if she was going to a party, but in reality, they were only going to eat in the university cafeteria. "Do you know our cafeteria serves the best chicken?" Aisha asked. "I'm vegan," Dove mentioned. "Oh, " Aisha reacted. "Then, it's going to be very hard for you to survive here. All the best, friend." She was not kidding, Dove only found out later. The options for vegans in the cafeteria were really low. In the name of vegan food, she could only find salad and vegetable stir-fry with rice which didn't even taste that good. "What are they serving there?" Dove asked as she saw a number of girls standing in the line as if looking at one place. Aisha snickered. "Nothing. They must be here to see the greenery." "Greenery?" Dove furrowed her brows. "What's that?" Scarlett turned to look at Dove and said, "They are there to see boys." "Not just any boys but the creamy layer of the university," Aisha mentioned, and Dove looked at Scarlett for translation. "They are here to see handsome seniors," Scarlett said. "Especially the boy from the law department. The girls adore him." Aisha snickered. "Baby, don't fall for that law boy. He is not even that good. Fine, I agree that his face is out of this world, but so is his nasty heart. He doesn't give good vibes. Just stay away from him." Scarlett translated, "She has a crush on him and thought he was about to ask her out as she had a guess that he was staring at her one day but she was proven wrong. Now she doesn't like that he didn't like her back." "How could someone not like her?" Dove ended up asking. Aisha was a very gorgeous girl. She was tall, blonde and had piercing blue eyes. She was a barbie doll beautiful so it was weird that the guy didn't look at her. "Exactly my question!" Aisha said. Scarlett didn't say anything and focussed only on eating. While Dove was eating her vegetables, she felt a piercing gaze on her face. Her heart stilled as she felt a very familiar emotion, but she could not put her hand on it. As she turned back, she didn't see anyone there. However, she could still feel someone's gaze on her face. "What's wrong?" Scarlett whispered. "I suddenly feel nauseous, " Dove said. "I'm going out for fresh air. You guys continue your meal. I will see you out."
