Hearts Coming Home
A month after Katherine's rescue, Aria watched her mother trace gentle fingers over her swollen belly. The deprogramming was working slowly but steadily – more of her true personality emerging each day. She looked haunted at times but Aria got flashes of her mom. All the love she felt as a pup filled her.
"I missed so much," Katherine whispered, eyes filling with tears. "Your first shift, your teenage years... I should have protected you from him." Her mom felt so much guilt but it wasn't on her it was on those sick f***s that decided to torture a pup and teen for existing.
"You're here now." Aria covered her mother's hand with her own as the pup kicked. "And your grandchild will know you. The real you." Her mom sniffles as she stares at her belly.
