Viktor had transformed the compound's grand ballroom into a fairy tale wonderland for Luna's first birthday. Crystal butterflies (real ones, transmuted by Luna's powers from regular butterflies) floated near the ceiling while enchanted snowflakes (another of her recent magical discoveries) danced in the air.
"She's showing off," Aria said fondly, watching their daughter hold court from her special throne – a masterpiece of silver and moonstone that Viktor had commissioned. He stared at his pup with so much love and pride it filled her with happiness. He was so sweet but also feared by most supernatural creatures.
