The thugs were set for their operation conquer and possess when Matt raised another question;
"how are we gonna locate him?; it's not like we will enter San Diego and start looking all over the city for the kid. He could be anywhere so we will need some sort of identification".
Bruce replied
"from the information we have, his name is Jeremy, he's the son of Michael Reese; so his name will be Jeremy Reese".
Tom replied;
"well, we got his name; what else are we waiting for?
Matt answered him;
"having his name ain't enough, we can't just enter the city of San Diego and start asking for one random Jeremy Reese, we need something valid; a picture or something".
Tom suggested that they go online which the did but after surfing the net with Jeremy Reese; they find no one that matches him. They were surprised how a teenager could not be on any social media platform. Matt then suggested the browser through his former school's yearbook and there; the found his photography which they downloaded.

Because of the past incident, Jeremy has being skipping school and this got his guardians worried, they tried talking to him about it but he didn't give any reasonable response. They decided to invite his dad to intervene in the situation which he promised to visit.
When Jeremy heard his dad will be visiting, he started attending classes but still; his father insisted on coming.

The thugs had a pretty hard time locating Jeremy, the searched the whole of the city but nobody seems to recognised the picture, when they were about giving up, the saw Jake who gives them the name of Jeremy school, the asked for his home address but Jake don't have that. In order to find Jeremy, they started keeping watch on the school but yet they couldn't find him, so they decided to take turns.
Jeremy was returning from a school when he realised; someone was following him, he increased his pace and the person also did. He started running and entered into a train station; due to large number of people, the stalker couldn't find him. after searching for sometime; he saw Jeremy entered a train, he rushed and also entered the train but Jeremy ceased the opportunity to came out. As the train was moving, he saw Jeremy outside waving at him. he turned and asked one the passengers their next train station but was disappointed when he learnt they train was leaving the city.

Matt and Bruce waited for Bruce when his shift was over but he didn't show up, they decided to search for him in school but he wasn't there. They called his line which he later picked; he told them how Jeremy tricked him out of the town and now; he's stranded with no money. they promised to pick him up once they captures Jeremy.
Michael Reese was already in San Diego, he met with Jeremy's guardian; Mr. Peterson who is a detective. After some pleasantries, they set out to get Jeremy.
Jeremy was walking down the streets when suddenly, a car double crossed him, he started running while it went after him. He ran for sometime and got tired, Bruce and Matt got out of the car. immediately Jeremy saw them, he brought out the ring and tried to put it on but they opened fire on him. Jeremy fell to the ground; using his last breath, he put the ring on and ceased breathing. The ran to Jeremy and tried to remove the ring but it was stuck. They tried further but Mr. Peterson drove in and opened fire on them which cause to run for their lives.
Mr. Reese ran to tend to his son while Peterson was calling 911. They managed to get him to the hospital but he was confirmed dead. while the were still discussing about taking him to morgue, the ring sparkled and his body evaporated as sparking light.

The thugs were declared wanted all over the city which makes them to flee to their home town. Michael vows to get to the root of the whole matter, he vows to get the thug, find out what they want with the ring and avenge his son. Mr. Peterson couldn't believe himself when he was told about the ring. if not that Andrew his son also testified witness to the power of the ring, he couldn't believe it.
Back in Brookings in South Dakota, the thugs were trying to communicate with Darca but it was impossible, they will throw the sceptre into fire place, after emitting smokes; the smoke will die down. This continued for long period of time that they couldn't take it anymore. They out of frustration lit the fire place, cast the sceptre into it but instead of emitting smoke, the sceptre exploded.

At Darca's castle, he was trying to transmigrate into earth but for some reasons, some forces are blocking him. he called on his witch to explain what's was happening. After series of spells, they which replied;
"your transmigration to earth is due to your connection with the ring but now; the ring is no longer on earth so the connection is broken".
Darca curiously asked;
"if the ring is not on earth; then where should it be? "
Lydia replied him;
"who knows; as it is now, we should concentrate on taking down the shield"
She turned abruptly heading to one of the crystals on the wall, after inspecting it for some time; he turned facing Darca.
"I think I know where the ring is; "
Darca replied;
"then tell me"
she said that the shield defense is beginning to get stronger and that only means one thing which is that the ring is over there within the shield. Darca turned to one of the trolls standing guard; he gave an order for them to increase their energy in taking down the shield.

Jeremy opened his eyes and saw himself in a beautiful garden with a beautiful sky, he stood on his feet and understand that he was in the place he came when he first put on the ring. immediately, the sky exploded like thunder which shook the ground and cause all birds to flew away from their nest. Jeremy looked at his hand and saw the ring glowing so bright.

outside the shield, a roar was heard and a voice thundered;
"fire! "
About a dozen trebuchet launched fireballs on the shield which exploded in air and cause the ground to shook.
