MYSTERIES OF THE RING

Days have passed without any events. Jeremy usually spend time with his father in the hospital. nothing much has been accomplished with the police investigation so Jeremy have to relocate to his cousin's. he almost forgot about the assassination attempt on his life when they came for him again.

Jeremy and Andrew were driving home, at a point; a car started trailing them without them knowing it. They got home and locked the door but they assassins broke in and hid in the house waiting for the right time to strike.

Jeremy was sleeping when he heard noise at the living room, he woke up but couldn't find Andrew. he went to the living room and saw Andrew tied to a chair, he tried to scream but the thugs covered his mouth and demanded for the ring. he tried to resist but they threatened to kill Andrew. Jeremy reached out to his room and brought the ring, he handed to them; the thug lord tried the ring on his finger but nothing happened. They thought Jeremy was playing jokes with them but Jeremy decided to try it on. The thug lord after hesitation allowed him to wear it, immediately Jeremy put on the ring; he became invisible.

Jeremy invisibility scared both Andrew and the thugs, immediately; one of the thug held Andrew and threatened to kill him if Jeremy wouldn't reveal himself. They were still looking around when they heard the door creak open, the turned to see the door open and after sometime, it closes. the thugs thought Jeremy was outside so they went after him. immediately they left, Andrew's bind started to unbind it self which got Andrew surprised. immediately Andrew was free, he ran to the door and asked Jeremy to reveal himself. Jeremy took out the ring and became visible, Andrew asked;

Jeremy, did I just saw you disappear into thin air? what's going on?

Jeremy moved closer to him and replied;

I can't say; the only thing I know is whenever I put on the ring, something mysterious happens. how it happens; I don't know, I told you something is going on with this ring but you didn't believe me.

Andrew shouted back

well! I believe you now.

The thugs outside must've heard that because their voice was heard approaching closer to the door. Andrew picked up a car key and pushed the unlock button which got the car to beep at parking garage. The thugs heard the beep and rushed to the garage while the boys used the opportunity to escape from the motel.

They hid and waited for the thugs to leave before they drove to the hospital. at the hospital, Mr. Michael has already regain consciousness. they talked about what happened and Andrew insisted Jeremy should leave the town. According to Andrew, he stated;

"Jeremy is barely fourteen and his too young to face all this stuff. I can't be watching my back and at the same time watch his. Since this ring is more important than our lives as you said why don't we send Jeremy to my parents living outside this city? he will be safer there".

Michael suggested that Andrew leaves the town with Jeremy since the thugs also know him but Andrew refused saying that he's twenty four; that he can take care of himself. After awhile, Andrew left to buy some breakfast. Jeremy approached his father and started asking questions about the ring. his father started by telling him how he met his wife, how she later revealed to him that she's a fairy running from his step brother who's trying to overthrow their world. she also revealed that the ring is what his brother needs to conquer their world and that was why she fled with it. That without the ring, her brother is powerful but not powerful enough to conquer their world and also without the ring, her brother come over to this world.

Jeremy asked how the ring works; Michael told him that the ring is like a catalyst that speeds up someone's inner abilities. He added that the ring also has it own abilities. Jeremy asked why his mother didn't use the ring to defeat her brother but Michael said that he doesn't know. Jeremy asked why the ring only works on him; his father replied that the ring only work on magical creatures.

this surprised Jeremy which got him to ask;

"if it only works on magical creatures, why then does the thugs want the ring? "

Michael stared at him for sometime and replied;

"I don't know, I really don't know. if those thugs are not magical creatures, then they need to get it for a magical being."

While they were discussing, Andrew walked in with paper bags which got them to stop their discussion.

The thugs drove back to their boss and complained about what happened; the boss was furious that he started throwing things on the floor. immediately, the fire place cracked and erupted into flames. A thick black smoke zoomed out and changed into an elf with a fairy wings. The elf was floating like a ghost and can pass through objects which indicates he wasn't real.

The thugs all bowed before him and he turned to them saying;

"you can get up boys; now Bruce, where is my ring? "

Bruce who is the leader of the thugs stands up and said hesitantly;

"well, my lord Darca, the thing is that the boy with the ring is so mysterious, my boys have tried catching him slot of time but failed"

The man starred at him and say;

"your boys, have you tried catching him yourself?, I'm running out of patience, the next time you tell me stories; I will use you to set example of how cruel I can be."

Bruce smiled and thanked him. he then asked;

"Anything to motivate the boys more; like more golds will do.

This infuriate Darca and he waved his wand; immediately, Bruce face erupted two horns, his nose change to that of a big and he suddenly grew a pig tail.

Darca turned to the boys;

"is that enough motivation? If you fail me next time, your fate will be worse than his".

With that, he disappeared back into the smoke. The remaining three thugs ran to their boss and asked if he was alright; this infuriate Bruce that he picked up a baseball bat and started hitting them till they all ran away. Then Bruce said to himself;

"if you want anything done the way you want it, you have to do it yourself".

He picked up a shotgun and reloads it. he then said;

"I'm getting this ring from this kid, whether dead or alive".

Jeremy and Andrew were going back to their room when Jeremy asked;

"Are we still gonna stay there? those assholes had already discovered our residence. it's unsafe now to stay there".

Andrew starred at him for sometime and replied;

"we stay there just for tonight, tomorrow; you are going to my mother's".

Jeremy asked about him; where he's gonna stay, he replied that he's going to his girlfriend's. Jeremy amusingly asked;

"who's this imaginary girlfriend of yours?.

Andrew replied;

"you will meet her when all this is over, I'm not like someone I know who can't even talk to a girl".

Jeremy just kept mute because he was talking about him. They drove to the parking lot and Andrew suspected the scenario of the garage. He told Jeremy;

"I have a sinister feeling about here, when we get inside; pick the things you need let leave here before something goes wrong".

When they entered their room, They saw a werepig (a man with a pig face) sitting on their bed, Another man who they recognised as one of the thug entered behind. the pig man asked;

"Tom, which of them has the ring"

the second thug pointed at Jeremy. He points his gun at Jeremy and said;

"son, gimme the ring and leave; or I will have to take the ring and kill you".

Jeremy brought out the ring, he stretched it towards the thug, as the thug stretched his hand to take it, Jeremy put it on and disappeared immediately, after some seconds; he reappeared in the room, he kept teleporting within the room. This distracted the thug and also grant Andrew an opportunity to attack the Bruce with a guitar shattering it on his head.

Tom heard the crash and points his gun at Andrew, he threatened to open fire if Jeremy refuses to hand over the ring. Jeremy appeared, took a ring and threw it up screaming;

"Catch"

As the thug made to go for the ring, Andrew punched him in the face knocking him down. they both ran out of the room and Andrew asked Jeremy;

"wait! what about the ring? did you leave it in there?"

Jeremy replied;

"I left a ring but not the magical one. they asked for a ring but they didn't make it specific".

just as they got outside, the remaining two thugs double crossed them and pulled out a revolver. Jeremy quickly put on the ring but nothing happened, he suddenly scream and fell to the ground unconscious.
