“Mom, you can’t leave them here! I thought you said it’s a family trip?” I asked, finding this idea of hers bad.
She looked at me and responded with a shrug, “Yeah, it’s a family trip, just the three of us, now that sweet Derby is here.” She points at Derby, who just waved at her.
“And the pets? Aren’t they family?” I asked, going down on my knees to hold Cadell and Trent close, so that Mom would see how much we need them. “They’ll be lonely without us. I doubt if they can even survive without me!” I sniffed, trying to force out tears from my eyes, even if it’s just a drop.
Cadell howled sadly, burying his face on me, while Trent gave out the googly eyes to win Mom over.
She saw this but held on to her decision strongly.
“I didn’t say they aren’t family, Eve. See…” She sighed,
