I sat on bed and began contemplating my decision. I am ready to move out right now but what will happen if I fail to land a job. I cannot ignore a possibility where either I don’t get a job or might get a job after two months of completing my college. Good thing about college is that it works on assignments rather than exams. So, I mailed a letter stating information regarding my internship and offer letter, so that I can opt for online classes and submit assignments. The request was approved and then, I left my house to buy some groceries. I can buy more when I reach my Aunt’s place but I prefer to get it here. Stores in this city are familiar so it is not stressful. After a while, I decided to eat spring rolls and dumplings for lunch. I don’t want to go back home, I feel like that entire house despises me. People often talk about how everything has it’s aura or energy. I feel like it’s energy is to keep me outside. Honestly, I don’t believe that s**t but I do believe that subconsciously that house reminds me of my parents and since I have a rocky relationship with them, I think that even the house hates me. Anyway, I still need to tell dad and I was hoping that I could tell him right when I will leave. That would be much easier. But, I can’t. It’s 6 o’clock and I think dad will be back after 7 o’clock. One more hour and then I can tell him. Also, I noticed something. My mother has been keeping an eye on me. She turns around when I look in her direction but I can feel her gaze. Not that I care, but it is annoying. I decided to wait for him in my room and watch some show. After an hour of binging on YT, I hear him. I walked downstairs to notice that he was talking to my Mom. I halted in passage as I heard her, “You have to talk to her. She spoke to me like I am her maid. I don’t know what she thinks she is, but she is definitely out of my hand.” Oh crap! Not this. I will not apologise to her for anything. She insulted me and my friend. She questioned my intellect and she said all that mean stuff. “This is between you and Naila, I will talk to her but you need to talk to her on your own. I don’t want to meddle between you too. I already have a lot on my plate and the last thing I want to do is to be a negotiator.” And then he walks towards his room. My mother follows him, trying to convince him that she is right. Oh boy! I don’t think that I can discuss it tonight. I have to do it in the morning before I leave my house. If anything, my father hates abrupt plans and uninformed decisions. I woke up near 5 o’clock as I knew my father would go for his morning exercise and it was the best time to talk to him. Usually, he is in a good mood and I don’t think my internship opportunity will ruin it. I decided to wait in the drawing room. After a few minutes, I saw him with his sports bag and he was about to head out. “Dad, I want to talk to you.” “Yes, speak fast. Today I have an important match with my friends and I don’t want to be late.” “I got an internship near Aunt Nelly’s place for six months in a media house and I have decided to join it from next Monday.” He stopped on his track, and looked at me,” What kind of internship is it? How much will they pay? Tell me everything.” So I told him my stipend details and things that they would offer me as per their advertisement. I showed him my offer letter on my phone. After reading all terms and conditions, he was satisfied. “I am happy for you Naila. I know you work hard for this. I didn’t expect my day to go this well.” He smiled. “Anyway, I don’t want to be late, we talk about this at breakfast.” After he left, I went upstairs and slept. I was tired of waking up so early and since things did go well, I was more relaxed. Soon I drifted in deep slumber. I woke up again, around 8:30 AM. I still feel lazy but that’s okay. I have to make sure that I don’t miss anything here so after I brushed my teeth, I started making a checklist and decided to cross check my things. Soon, I heard a knock. “Naila, what are you doing?” That’s Mom. Too much for not speaking to me again. “Your Aunt told me that you will be visiting her. When were you going to tell me.” I said nothing. I was still mad at her about her toxic remark. I don’t want to create anymore scenes and just wish that I move out. “I cannot believe Nelly knows before me. Do you enjoy making fun of me? Why didn’t you tell me that? Did you also say something about our fights? Is that why you are going so that you can avoid me after our small argument? You are so childish Naila.” I snorted. Small argument, sure. Considering how she has completely skipped mentioning her little speech, it is in fact a small argument. Also, wasn’t she done with me and my drama. “Answer me! You cannot ignore me. I did talk about this with your father and he said he is very disappointed in you and will talk to you during breakfast. You always try to create a ruckus in my house. Naila, when will you grow up?” “I heard what my father said and I also spoke to him this very morning. He didn’t mention anything as you say. I think I should speak to him again at breakfast and ask him the same. Also, I did not tell Aunt Nelly anything about our fight. ” She looked relaxed as I did not mention the fight to Aunt. Of course her image was something she could never compromise. “He didn’t say but I believe he felt that way.” “Mom, dad is a lawyer. He never sugar-coats his opinion. He speaks what he wants to say.
