Jade sniffed. "Are you now going to throw dollar bills at me? Sounds like that's your method of negotiating."
Taehyung just couldn't get things right between Jade and him. Any other time he wouldn't care. Really, when did he have to work this hard to get a woman to do what he wanted? That sordid ease drew his boredom faster than they could have imagined.
But he like a challenge.
Taehyung pushed. "How can I get to change your mind?".
"By not treating me as if I'm one of your hanger on girls."
Taehyung didn't realize that his clumsy attempts had cheapened her sensibilities. Wow! He wasn't any better than his men or the other men on the track that talk trash about the female drivers or about the woman who hang around long after the crowds dispersed to be invited into the trailers.
"You know you can hire a physical therapist and get the result without dealing with me", Jade offered.
"I know. But I don't want anyone else." He kept his gaze lowered to his hands. Safer. The minute he thought about who he wanted, her face came to mind. Then he had to looked at her- and not to a patient-to- doctor way.
" I have Monday, Tuesday and Thursday available. You may stop in at ten. The workout will be an hour."
"What about the other days".
"I have the physician assistant work on you in my stead".
"Okay." Three days in her care was better than nothing. It would give him time to lengthen this tentative so between them and guarantee his role is to race. He hadn't changed his mind about winning her over.
Jade finally walk behind her desk to take a seat.
Battling with Taehyung did cause a sensory overload.
Standing so close to his sexy body did funny things to her knees, hence having to lean against the desk for support. She had to will herself to remain still and take on the persona of the cold headed and doctor in charge.
Being close to him was like standing too close to the sun.
"Is there anything else that I can do for you"? Jade asked uncomfortable with the lull in the discussion.
" Yes, I'd like to take you out for dinner sometimes."
"The olive branch was sufficient." Jade didn't want to be tested with crossing the line. She'd fail, no doubt about that.
"Is being in your company unpleasant? Do I want to hear the answer?"
Jade paused. She didn't expect him to care what she thought about him. "No not unpleasant". Not even close to being unpleasant. He would never know.
"You do eat lunch?" He looked at his watch. Cause it's lunch time."
"As a matter of fact I usually skip lunch, but I'll give you 30 minutes of my time."
They walk over to the small coffee shop across the street. He pulled his shades and wore a baseball cap. She notice that he tends if anyone stared for more than a few seconds or did a double take. She couldn't Living a life constantly on guard against people zeroing in on her. Life in a fishbowl was how she thought of it.
Once they ordered and received their respective cups of coffee then headed to a table next to an expansive window allowing in natural light. The place seemed to be a popular hangout for the lunch crowd. Navy blue and black suits heavily populated the patrons wardrobes.
The aroma of fresh bread tantalize her appetite. She works hard to resist following the scent to the sandwich prep area to order a favorite of hers- ham and cheese on an italian roll. This wasn't a normal lunch date. This was Taehyung trying to work his way into her good graces. She had to stay mentally nimble to outwit and strategy to win her over by underhanded means like sexy filtration banter and come hitler looks.
"Your father is a dear." She opened up the conversation on neutral ground.
Taehyung nodded. "He's my biggest supporter. My mom is, too. Their divorce though. She lives in europe moves around quite a bit."
Jade offered, my biggest supporters are my father and younger brother. Mom died several years ago. I needed to support from my dad and brother while i was going to university. Otherwise i wouldn't have finish my degree".
"The practices your life?"
"Basically." She sipped her coffee. " And your company?"
"Everything to me."
Jade set down her cup. She had to ask a question that had been nagging her ever since she was hired to attend to Taehyung. "Why? Why risk your life to drive a warp speed?"
"It's what all young boys love to do. The difference is that i took it into adulthood. Maybe i'm a child at heart".
Jade nodded. Although his words had a lighter feel there was a shadow that cross his countenance. What lay beneath that gruff, brooding exterior?. Delving past the ego held an exciting thrill that spoke to her curiosity. Kim Taehyung have so many layers that she suspected they effectively hid the real man at the core.
" What do you risked on a daily basis? he asked her.
Jade stared down into the cup. Her coffee had cooled but she kept the cap clutched in her hands. Otherwise she'd be clicking her pen.
Nothing in her life was a risk. She'd planned every inch of it planning for various outcomes to avoid surprises.
No, wrist didn't motivated her. As a child living with her mother's rheumatoid arthritis and seeing the devastation of the illness scared her. By the time she attended college she used that fear to set her on a path in the medical profession.
Maybe she was too idealistic but she wanted to dedicate her service to helping others with debilitating diseases.
Her mother's suffering not only nurtured her determination but it pulled the family together. Her dad spirit had dissolved under the emotional strain. His love for her mother couldn't overcome her illness. Jade couldn't imagine the depth of hurt and despair when a soulmate had to live a life of extreme pain.
She didn't think that she had the strength to cope. She greatly admired and respected the families she'd met through her practice. It was one thing to be healthcare provider but quite another to be supportive pillar for the ailing person.
"I don't take risk", jade partially shared her thoughts. I think it's time to be heading back and i see you on monday."
"How about before then? Say. Saturday? Sunday?
Now that was totally unexpected. Those eyes, brown warm inviting, he had the power to solicit her body in a strange exhilarating way that promise new heights. With every action there was a reaction. That would explain why her mouth slowly opened and she responded.
"Saturday"
"Good I'll pick you up."
"What will we do?"
Taehyung smiled. Not sure but it will be memorable. By the way are you afraid of heights?"
Jade narrowed her gaze. No i even like roller coasters. Now you've got me thinking. She shared her address.
Her heartbeat thudded against her chest. Her breath quickened. She recognize the symptoms of a panic attack. Racing heart, cold sweats, dizziness, and the desire to flee.
Options. Must consider options if she was really going through with this- whatever this was.
Maybe if she didn't think of this quick interlude as a date she could act as if she had good sense.
"Is this a date?" Jade decided to get an official answer.
"I'm calling it that"
A date! She needed riddle room before definitely using that word. Everyone knows that one date leads to another, one kiss leads to another, iwant touch on the arm leads to a moment in the bed. How to plant for the consequences?
Well she might need her hair touch up. An inch of new growth already showed at her roots. Jungkook could assist with that since she had no time to get to a hairdresser. Clothes she didn't have time to shop. A kiss from him? Oh man that was like waving chocolates under her nose. s*x with him! Her mind run with the thought but the nonsense part of her. With all the rules of behavior lessons handed down from mother and grandmother and her father's disapproving frown told her to stop the madness.
