"You don't have to come," Taehyung said.
"Oh, But i do. I so want to say "I told you so," He headed out the door that the the waiting car before he got in he c****d his head "Do you have siblings?"
" Brother. Younger."
"Hmm. that's explains a lot."
Jade slightly push him into the car should never manhandled a patient before. But somehow they had a knack for screaming under skin whatever he had to say she wasn't interested to hear should know all the stupid firstborn statistics since college should heard that over half of Seoul, presidents were first born even her father had jumped on the bandwagon to convince her throughout her childhood that she was a natural leader.
Maybe knowing the traits about being reliable conscientious and perfectionist caused her to be a doormat for her brother's shenanigans. She was honest enough to know that she had a slight superiority complex. Well she blamed the statistics for convincing her that she was a favorable as said to have on anyone's team.
"How far is the hospital?" Taehyung asked.
The silence in the car through heavy and uncomfortable.
She glanced over at Taehyung. Now he laid his head to the side with his eyes closed. She leaned a little closer to inspect.
"I'm still breathing."
"You look as if you're in pain".
"Trying to block your perfume."
Jade instinctively sniffed her wrists were she had touched a dab of scent. "SORRY" she pulled out a hand wipe.
"It's not offensive," He breathed deeply and then opened his eyes to have slits. His mouth offered a small smile. "The fragrance has a delicate note that will see into my memory even after you're gone".
"It's my favorite." She didn't know if she should still wipe her wrist . Having any part of her seared into Taehyung's memory still the mysterious element deep within that's sluggishly awoke from its democracy.
The doctors hospital outside of Seoul was smaller than most community hospitals but she knew that she could guarantee Taehyung's privacy.
Not that he'd rely on her for those services. Already three members of his inner circle we're pulling into the lot in their cars.
They herded him into the er w. Without a glance at her. Jade followed she had no desire to have a contest with them over there boss though they did act as if she might kidnap him she may not know their word but she did know her judging from taehyung symptoms she was fairly certain that she was not being overly cautious.
The admitting nurse process the paperwork in no time.
Almost immediately he had escorted through the heavy automatic doors that swung open and close before being locked into place.
The entourage made up the three person inner circle and her, as the outsider, was barred entry. Now the waiting would begin. Test and results could take hours.
The E.R didn't operate with a primary purpose of alleviating the families and friends inconvenience.
"Has anyone contacted a relative?" Jade ask the group in general. She knew nothing about Taehyung. He was a race car heroto many, but she didn't follow the sport much less its icons. That didn't mean that she wouldn't take the opportunity to learn more about him directly from the source in the next couple of weeks.
The woman in the group answered, "His dad knows, he'll be here shortly".
"That's it?" Jade ask with open curiosity. No way that Mr. I'm-Too-Sexy didn't have a female companion reclining on a chaise lounge somewhere. Someone other than Dad had to be worried, no way did they share the lack of a special someone in their lives.
"That's it" one of the men replied with more than a touch of frost in his attitude. He turned his back and continue this conversation with the other man and woman. Jade recalled hearing Taehyung call him Namjoon.
"I'm not the enemy," she muttered at their united front to freeze her out. Instead of standing in the waiting area like a lonely island, she opted to get a coffee.
The polite thing would be to ask if the others wanted anything. But she wasn't feeling polite. And she certainly wasn't feeling included.
She turned to leave the area and bumped into a tall order gentleman. He grabbed her by the arms to steady her with an apology underscored by a quick laugh.
" I should be looking where I'm going." Jade tried to explain her goof.
" No worries. I'm the one rushing through the hall. Looking for my son."
Jade study the face. Familiar features were aimed at her: the strong slope of his forehead, angular jawline, the casual tilt of his head. Recognition clicked into place.
" Are you Taehyung's Dad?"
He nooded. Kim Junghoon"
" Park Jade. His doctor. Well, not his primary doctor. Orthopedist."
"Did he suffer any injury?"
"Ah no. I'm his orthopedist who was hired after the last accident. "I was visiting him today in his office. He looked a little word around the edges. I'm sure that he still feeling a bit achy, which is normal after the initial accident." She pointed her tumb toward the ER doors.
"They are running a few test at my request."
"Good."
"Mr. Kim , hi, good to see you." Namjoon entered Jade's space, planting himself between Junghoon and her. " I don't expect anything to come of this". His tone clearly indicated that he wasn't in support of her actions.
" Better be safe". Mr. Kim looked at her and nodded.
"Of course. Although Taehyung wasn't keen on the test".
Namjoon sounded like a snitch.
The older Kim straightened his posture. " When Taehyung becomes a medical doctor then he'll be worth listening to about his health". His irritation toward Namjoon was open for all to see.
"Can i get you a cup of coffee?" Namjoon ask, now clearly trying to make amends.
" Jade?" Junghoon stepped to the side to bypass Namjoon deliberate block.
"Actually i was heading to the cafeteria for coffee and the sandwich, I figure it'll take some time before we hear any news.
"I'll go with you, then. Namjoon, nice seeing you just buzz me when you hear something."
"The doctor will notify me." Jade held up her pager.
She didn't have to play at Namjoon game, but maybe it was the first born Instincts kicking in to show off that she also had connections.
" That's settled. Let's go. Call me Junghoon, by the way".
"Ok Junghoon, let's beat the lunch crowd."
Jade strolled next to the older Kim. Although he walked with a slow gait his long legs created wide strides that made her shorter legs have to work harder. Unlike his sons radioactive charisma. Junghoon exuded a fun, relax vibe that quickly set her nerves at ease.
They navigate to many halls and elevators to the cafeteria on the third floor. The noon crowd wasn't due for another 30 minutes. From the hub of activity in the expensive room several patrons, had used her logic and come early.
"You go ahead and get your food. I'll grab the table."
Jung jong headed off to one of the small boots among the sea of stand-alone tables and chairs. He waved away her protest.
"What if i pick up something for you?" Jade offered.
" I don't have a clue what I'm in the mood for, I'll get something next."
Jade nodded and headed to the display table of food.
As quickly as possible, she gathered her lunch and headed for the seat.
Junghoon didn't take long. He returned with his hands full of yogurt fruit and bottle of water. Jade look forward for chatting with him. His personality was friendly and welcoming. Maybe should get some tidbits on his son.
" Jade, how did you manage to convince Taehyung to take more tests.?
" I wish I could say I convinced him". Jade shook her head. " I had to treaten him. Plus i have to be my opinion on when he's ready to drive."
" That couldn't have put you on his good side. These days, i don't think he has a side other than worrying and obsessing about his company. He needs a light beyond cars." Using his plastic spoon to emphasize this point he continued. "I hope you can manage to insert that into the therapy. Might help him to have a good mood every now again. HIs killing himself being owner and driver". He sighed. "Sorry, I'm rumbling on."
Jade wanted to agree, but stayed silent. This tract sounded like a common theme of discontent between father and son. She wanted to avoid some conflicts. In a few months, her contract with his sponsors would up.
Should close the file on kim taehyung and return her practice minus- him.
"What keeps you busy besides my son?"
" I have a few practice with the new doctors. Busy is understatement."
"Don't let it take over what's important to you".
Jade nodded. In her opinion she cover all the things that were important. If it didn't fit then she couldn't classify it as important.
" Anyone special? Yes I'm nosy." He laughed.
"Not at the moment." She didn't laugh. Now she felt defensive.
" A pretty woman like you? I can't believe that. I suppose men are intimidated by your profession" he snorted his disgust. Those men you definitely don't need to deal with. Keep more runs out of your life"
