Jade couldn't stop glancing at the clock awaiting Taehyung's arrival. The man invaded her thoughts with the strength of a maraunding army taking residence. Once he'd kiss her a unique band had spun around her like a web and seal her in its power. Not that she fought hard to avoid the personal contact.
Two days since the hot air balloon ride, the memory of the kiss they'd exchange remain vivid. She still felt the warmth of the body along the length of hers. The way he'd look at her fired up the desire between her legs. He tasted as good as he looked- a hot melt in the mouth chocolate treat.
Taehyung continued to shake her at her world. Her internal warning systems had activated to keep her focused. Work had always tended to keep her physical needs at rest. The workload provided no time to think about being alone feeling lonely. She had her family and her work. With the new project of opening the therapeutic clinic her personal more intimate yearnings work out of sight, out of mind.
But Kim Taehyung the wonder boy of race car driving blasted away the covering, breahtling life into her soul.
Giving him credit for such a rediscovery didn't mean that he should gain access to her heart. He may have certain advantages because of his physical beauty, but he was definitely not the man of her dreams. Too wild. Too impulsive. Too risky she had to keep that in mind or be a goner.
"Dr. Park, he's here."
Jade thanked her assistant "Please have Janice assist us."
Having her physician assistant at her side served a two-fold purpose- getting taehyung on the road to recovery and preventing mild flirtation that he was bound to toss her away.
" Jade, good to see you." Taehyung entered the room, instantly dominating it. you look recovered from Saturday".
She stood up and keep her distance. "That was a pretty cool surprised,But i don't need to many of those."
I may not have enough insurance" she joked.
Her six foot three, happily married with four children decision assistant entered. "Taehyung, this is Janice, my PA. She will assist with your therapy and take the lead when i have emergencies."
"Good to meet you." Janice shook hand with Taehyung.
" Here's a gown. Please change and we'll be back shortly."
Jade left the room with Janice. She waited a few minutes, then had Janice check on Taehyung's progress. With his consent they entered the room. Well john is adjusted the machine Jade explained to Taehyung what they were going to do.
"I want to stimulate the muscles, getting the ligaments and tendons soft and pliable. Will start gently with heat application along the neckline". She open the gun and arrange it along his shoulders.
Gently she ran her fingers over the muscles sculpted into hills and valleys along his upper frame.
His wincess along with the small knots where the muscles tensed, mark the numerous traumas. In time they would mend.
His neck on the other hand needed more delicate attention. She ran her fingers at his neck to his hairline.
"Ouch. Okay, that's enough!" Taehyung exclaimed, pulling away from her probing fingers.
"Lie facedown. Place your face into the hole." Janice mention how Taehyung needed to position himself on the cushioned table.
"This is like putting your face on a toilet seat," Taehyung complained. He groaned his way into position.
"Are all race car drivers whiny?" Jade joked.
"Do you know what you're doing?" His voice muffled.
"Actually,I don't. I learned online and practice on Janice. But we'll get you back in the saddle once i read the chapter on neck injuries".
"Not funny."
"From my vantage point, I disagree." Jade nodded to Janice to begin working on Taehyung. She opened up his file and jotted notes rather than only admire his full rare view. "I'll leave you in the capable hands of my PA".
"Will I be at set then?"
"Follow our instructions. Take it easy-- that means rest. And we'll see". Jade refused to commit about Taehyung's readiness. Heaven his brain sloshing around after being bruised wasn't an issue to be taken lightly.
Taehyung cursed.
Jade cleared her throat.
"Sorry".
"I understand your frustration really i do. Try to be patient." She casually touch his shoulder to reassure him.
Taehyung granted his assent.
Jade finish up with the instructions before leaving the room. First thing she needed to do was to complete paperwork on Taehyung's insurance forms. Her opinion wouldn't stop him from racing. He still had the freedom to move ahead. So far this team and Taehyung were listening to her advice even if they were strong arm in her into giving him a clean bill of health.
No one who's going to make her budge on a decision if she felt otherwise.
Not even Taehyung and his Cassanova techniques could sway her decision. She had to admit he didn't surprise her by showing up for therapy today. His tendency to become cavalier about it though, didn't help get her to trust him .
In this world he must be used to approaching life with a win or lose mentality. Therefor winning was the only option. She's supposed that whether he wanted to or not he didn't have to slow down to consider what the other person wanted. He didn't have to understand life from a different angle. He has pre-wired to compete and conquer.
Nevertheless she had to resist being tempted by his passionate kisses. A wide chams of values divided their worlds. The truth filled her with a certain amount of regret but also a smedgen of relief. Her neat orderly world wouldn't had to adjust to Taehyung's impulsive frenetic energy.
Once she'd finish up on the administrative details of Taehyung, she turned her attention to her pet project. She was opening a physical therapy clinic for rheumatoid arthritis and other joint problems especially and to serve the underserved portion of the community.
Funding was crucial. Her success coupled with her colleagues help, had started the ball rolling. But she wasn't good to coast and be hard hit when the funds dried up and contributors turned to the next trendy charity.
Private boutique style facilities where the range in upscale neighborhood communities. Donors would have no reservation about supporting their exclusive access to these clinics. However when the target dealt with the general masses donations trickled in. The price tag to open and run an extension to her office was hefty.
Funding efforts had begun three years ago. Fruition was closed, she could feel it. She wanted the unit and ongoing research ponds in her mother's name for the fight against rheumatoid arthritis. Once patients experienced the onset of the disease then coping had to be the next focus in their therapy.
Her practice already worked with many patients. But she also wanted to ensure that people of limited means could get access and enjoy a decent life. Some days she felt as if she'd rich too high for her dreams. Would her research dollars only be a small drop in the enormous bucket?
She only had to see her moms photo on her desk to reinvigorate her purpose. The call to work harder, strive for more, stay ahead of the pack, became the rules to live by.
While fundraising receptions and silent auctions generated large sums. The simple less labor-intensive method work too. For the next hour she pick up the phone and dialed her contacts.
Taehyung returned to his office feeling much better. His shoulders was loosen. His neck didn't feel tight and pinched. Even his head didn't give the occasional throb at the base of his neck. Day 1 of therapy should count as a success for his body only.
He had to admit that he'd hoped Jade would be a little warmer toward him. Their date had ended on a pleasant note with lunch and a stroll in the park. He hadn't tried to kiss her again but they did hold hands and talked. Then he'd returned her home and left expressing to her that he hoped they could do this again.
Since when did he act with restraint?
He must have been asleep at the wheel and missed the detour. He had started with a mission. He needed a doctor to give her recommendation that he was ready to race.
His strategy relied on his prowess with the ladies.
No long-term attachment was on the table for reconsideration. No more than one date, few expensive gifts probably one time jumping her bones if she had a nice body-and she did-had been the plan of attack.
So far the operation was a sigsaga fair that let him confused. Switching tactics and doing things for the wrong reasons: doing it because he wanted to or because he wanted her to like him.
He never cared if a woman like him. Actually he'd never had to face such a rejection. Well maybe if he counted back a few days when Dr Park's stood in her no-nonsense medical coat and sexy shoes looking unimpressed at him.
"So what do you think?"
Taehyung looked up at Namjoon, who stood by his desk looking expectantly at him. He racked his brain to remember what was his point.
Namjoon asked,"do you want to interview John Lewis about joining the team?"
"Ah. Of course. Have you all met with him?"
"I was waiting to see what you think. I have my reservations. So does Steve and the few others. John's reputation comes with that baggage. His high maintenance."
"But he wins" Taehyung the equation. Wins equaled money. Money meant investing in his company and building a formidable fleet.
Namjoon nodded."That's right He's got youthful cockiness that's so far has not gotten him red flagged".
Taehyung couldn't help but respect the young upstart.
If the kid didn't control the aggression just a tad, he'd take out a few cars. One driver may walk away and the other may be carried away. Grim reality marked the sport. But that didn't mean that a driver should stack the odds with irrational behavior.
"Scheduled lunch with him." Tail felt certain that the kid needed a mentoring hand. He'd feel him out to see if there was any connection between them.
"One more thing...." Namjoon hesitated."we shuffled a few people on the team".
"Because...why? You know i don't like to deal with newbies right before a race, Taehyung returned his boys escalating. Namjoon rarely made a bad decision, but this one screwed up the vibe. He'd rather the man didn't screw up when it came to his presentation for a race.
"Johan was fired. Kept coming to work late. One day he smelled of alcohol."
"What?" This was definitely news to him. Taehyung had no tolerance for drug or alcohol use in his shop. Not only didn't he care for illegal substances he didn't need any legal issues to keep him tied up with the courts of with the race car federation.
"He's gone. Didn't leave quietly though. Spouted a lot of nonsense that we were going to be sorry."
"Sounds like the kid took a wrong turn" Taehyung sighed. The business side didn't ever seem to stop. Now employee problems came barreling at him from left field. "I think it's a good time for a walk through. Let the staff see me front and center. We're too small for people not to be affected when one of their own leaves"
"Good idea, boss."
Taehyung headed out of the office. He was never afraid to rub elbows with his stuff. From the lowest position to the high hand man Namjoon. He knew their names and their families and he shared in their celebrations children's births, and sadly visited when they were sick or suffered loss. These people from all walks of life where his extended family.
As he walked through the warehouse is heart swelled with pride at all they had accomplished over the nine-year period. They had signed on to his team knowing that he didn't have any much of our reputation. But he had a vision. And they had the talent and work ethic that took them to new heights every season. He couldn't ask for much more. Their loyalty meant a great deal to him.
