THRESHOLDS Moving day arrived wrapped in October sunshine and the kind of crisp air that promised winter wasn’t far behind. Luca was awake before dawn. Bouncing. Vibrating with excitement I hadn’t seen in months. Maybe years. “Is it time? Can we go now? Is the truck here?” “Baby, it’s five thirty in the morning.” I was on my second coffee. Still felt half asleep. “The movers don’t arrive until nine.” “But we could go see the apartment again. Make sure everything’s ready.
