"AND WE MEET AGAIN"

1949 Words
I woke up to loud noises coming from the living room and I groaned, like who the f**k would be disturbing my beauty sleep on a Sunday morning. I looked at the clock hanging on my wall and it only read 10am, which was still pretty early for me. As I sat on my bed so that my body and senses could boot a little more before I went out and whooped whosoever’s ass that is causing the commotion, my ears were trying to pick out what they were shouting about. Fair enough, from the voices I could recognize, it was Junior and Grey having a shouting fest. I marched out in my tank top and basketball shorts and stood there in the hallway, making sure to bang my door to alert them that I was awake. All I just wanted was to sleep till noon, but I just had to have idiots destroying my plans once again. “s**t, she’s awake.” I heard Andrew mutter to the other two as I came to stand in front with my arms crossed. “Why in God’s name were you guys shouting this early morning?” My voice was still deep and raspy because I had just woke up, but I tried to make it deeper than usual. “It’s like after 10.” Andrew piped up. “Shut the f**k up, that's still early for me. Do you know how tired I was last night?" I gave him a glare and he kept quiet and sat down. “You don't get to be angry young lady, why didn’t you tell me Grey is renting a room from you?” Junior asked me, eyeing Grey who went to, seat on the sofa. “One, because his mom kicked him out. Two, I need the money.” I rubbed my temples. I was already having a headache. “Besides, it’s my house so I can make the decisions.” “So we’re going to act like he wouldn’t make a move on you or the girl that moves in? This is Grey we’re talking about here.” Junior gestured to the subject of the matter, who gave us an eyeroll. “Wow, so I’m the f**k-boy right now?” I scoffed. “Dude, you are. And I agree with Junior, you’re not meant to be in the same house with her right now. Let alone for a whole year.” Andrew hummed. Now it was my turn to give an eyeroll. “Why are you guys acting like I can’t take care of myself? I’m definitely not going to have anything to do with the guy.” I said, “And he’s paying an extra 10000 of the rent so…” “Who decided that?” Junior asked both of us and I raised my hand. "Ayeee, that’s my girl.” Andrew gave me a high five and Junior sighed. “I’m still not comfortable with the idea, but if that’s what you want, no problem.” He said and walked into the kitchen with the plastic bag I noticed he was carrying and I had to follow him so as to discuss it further, because knowing him, he’s not cool with it. I understood where he was coming from, I was pretty bummed out about Grey and practically avoided breathing in the same space as him. Even though I managed to throw him over my shoulder, living together was extreme and not the next best choice. “Listen, I know you’re worried about me, but you don’t have to. I can assure you that you’ll be the first person to cut his balls if he tries anything.” I hugged him from behind and he laughed. “Okay, I understand you need the money so you can do anything you want.” He turned around and gave me a hug while kissing my forehead. "So while he's in this house, remember to wear a bra most times. I can feel your boobs against my chest right now, and a pervert like Grey would love this kind of situation, so avoid hugging." "Aye aye captain." I pulled away from the hug and glanced at the plastic bag. "What's in there? Is it for me?" "Yeah, I brought pancakes since you were craving some." “ Aw, that’s why I love you.” I smiled and opened the fridge to bring out water. On second thought, why didn't I fall in love with Junior instead of that prick that's currently in my living room? Junior was practically every girl's dream boyfriend, but it's just a pity our comfort doesn't go past best friends. I hope he gets a good girl who'll treat him perfectly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After breakfast, we were playing a game of Monopoly when someone knocked on the door and Andrew said he would get it since he was bankrupt and out of the game. We could hear another guy’s voice apart from Andrew’s and they were arguing loudly. As it sounded like it was getting heated, Junior and Grey decided to stand up and go check it out while I cleared the board. After minutes passed and they were still at the door, I decided to go check it out myself. “What’s going on guys?” I asked, as I couldn’t see the front door as they were taller than me. When I didn’t get a response, I squeezed my way to the front and gasped. I couldn’t believe it. Standing right in front of me was my boss’s son. Why was he here? “And we meet again, beautiful stranger,” His eyes met mine and he smiled at me as I gripped onto Andrew to stop me from passing out. “What are you doing here?” I finally let out and he gestured to his suitcases behind him. “I’m moving in. What else? Can you tell these three dumbos that my sister paid for a room yesterday so they should make way for me?” “Do you know each other?” Andrew gave both of us funny looks. I sighed. “He’s my boss’ son. I only met him yesterday.” “And it was a pleasure. My sister does have a good eye for finding wonderful house owners." He winked at me and I scrunched my face. “We only allowed her to pay because we thought she was renting it, not her brother.” Junior voiced out and Andrew agreed with him. “Not my fault. She met two guys here and thought they were the owners of the place.” He crossed his arms, “And she paid in my name, don’t you check your transaction details?” “Who checks the details of transactions nowadays? All we’re saying is that you can’t stay here, we can’t allow Deola to live with a guy.” Grey said and attempted to close the door but the stranger stuck his foot there. “What are you, her boyfriend?” the stranger raised his brows and I quickly shook my head. “Hell no, he’s just my friend and your co-tenant.” I smiled and gestured him to come in, pushing the three guys out of the way. They gave me confused looks as to why I was allowing him to move inside the house. The truth is that, while they were arguing, my brain was already assessing the situation. He might tell his father about me, making me lose both my job and the 40000 I’ve managed to get. I’m not going to allow that to happen to me. So the only way was to allow him to happily rent the room. Looking at it from another angle, there is no female for Grey to flirt with except he surprises me and says he's gay. While the stranger was unpacking his clothes, I explained my reasons to the guys and Grey was still not happy with the idea. Junior and Andrew were still cool with it, so if they are, I don’t give a f**k about Grey’s thoughts. “You’re just mad that somewhere along the line, I might like him, admit it.” I pressed on while he rolled his eyes. “Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. The point is, I don’t like the idea of another male here.” “Last time I checked, you don’t have a say in my business. It’s my choice to rent out the room to whosoever I wish.” I shouted. “Dude, you shouldn’t be bringing up the argument of a male in this house because you’re here and we were both skeptical about that.” Andrew gestured to himself and Junior. “Whatever man. If she falls in love with him and things end up badly, remember they’re in the same house.” Grey stood up and went to his room. I in turn went to see the stranger to give him the rules and regulations. I knocked on the door and waited for an answer but when I didn’t get any, I just opened it and shut it immediately. My eyes. My heart was pounding hard and I thought I was going to die from a heart attack. I urged my beating heart to be still while I knocked again and this time, he told me to come on in. He was still shirtless when I walked in and I wanted to kick his balls. I swear I’m not violent, but some people tend to bring out the violent part of you. “Why didn’t you put on a shirt?” I inquired as I tried to look anywhere else apart from the chiselled chest in front of me. “Excuse me, I thought you’d be used to it as you have boys around you.” He laughed and reached for his shirt on the bed. He seemed to have put everything in place, as the bed was neatly laid and his open suitcases were empty. “Whatever. I only came to give you the rules and regulations of this house and get proper introductions from one another.” I sat on the bed and gestured for him to sit too. “One, no s****l activity in this house. The moment I find out, you’re gone.” “Why though? What if it's with you?” He inched closer and I panicked. “Two, you’ll take part in the various chores around the house. I will draw a schedule later on so you don’t have to worry about inequality.” I ignored the rise of my heartbeat and succeeded in talking in a normal tone. As if I'd fall for this guy, in his dreams. “Noted.” "Three, no throwing of unexpected parties. As you know, I work at your dad's place and I'd need all the rest I can get." "Sure, I'm not an asshole." He smiled at me and I could feel my cheeks rising to a blush, so I quickly shook my head. Those were the only things my brain could supply at that point, so I handed him a spare key to the house, but as our hands touched, I felt the warmth travel round my body. I know I said I didn’t want to have anything to do with guys at the moment, so why was my body betraying me? f**k it, I need to get out of the room right now. “By the way, my name is Ovie.” His voice stopped me as I reached for the door knob and I turned around. “Nice to meet you Ovie, I’m Dee.”
