Elena’s POV. “I need light!” I called out, trying desperately to ignore Raymond’s overwhelming closeness. He stood inches from me, his body tense as if he was ready to fight off any intruders. “Elder Thomas is fading! I can’t see what I’m doing!” “Get your phones out! Light up the room, now!” Raymond ordered the staff. Immediately, a dozen bright beams lit up everywhere. The young nurses rallied around me, holding their hands as steady as they could as they directed the light into my workspace. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a shadow dart past the side counter. A clinic worker had grabbed the fresh tray of antidote samples and was running for the back exit. “Raymond!” I shouted. Raymond moved like lightning. He grabbed the traitor by the throat and slammed him against the wall.
