Elena’s POV. I shot up, slamming the glass down onto the nearest side table, nearly knocking it over. With my hand still clamped over my mouth, I turned on my heel, and sprinted out of the sitting room before anyone could question me. I barely made it to the ground-floor restroom, slamming the door shut behind me before dropping to my knees beside the basin and retching until my lungs burned. Cold sweat broke out across my forehead. I rested my forehead against my arm, waiting for the room to stop spinning. After several endless minutes, the spasms in my stomach finally eased. I pulled myself up using the edge of the marble counter, turned on the tap, and rinsed my mouth thoroughly with cold water.
