Vienna was surprised by Alan's call and turned back to Nisan and Vanessa, who asked her if something was wrong. She told them nothing.
"I have to return for dinner; Alan's grandfather is at the house," she explained, and Vanessa sighed in dissatisfaction.
She had been looking forward to them eating together outside the hospital for a while, and they were finally able to make a reservation tonight — but now it was canceled.
"They seem to really take you as their daughter-in-law," she grumbled.
"They're not giving you a hard time, right?" she asked, and Vienna shook her head, assuring her.
"You've asked me that twice already today; there's nothing like that," she said.
The time for the contract to end was counting down quickly anyway; it wouldn't matter what happened.
