. . . ELEANOR The cool night air brushed against my skin as me and Lena stepped out of the lively restaurant, the laughter and chatter of the crowd fading behind us. As we walked down the dimly lit street, our heels clicking against the pavement, I felt a shiver run down my spine. There was a sense of something — or someone — lurking in the shadows. I glanced at Lena, who seemed to have sensed the same thing. Lena’s hand subtly brushed against my arm, a silent signal that they needed to be cautious. My expression was calm, but my eyes were alert, scanning the surroundings. I felt a tiny bead of sweat form at my temple, my heart beating a little faster. I could hear Rhys on the other end of Lena's Bluetooth earpiece, his voice steady but tense as he asked if everything was okay.
