Hide and Seek

Suade's awakening.

Being the first born son of the Beta couple, Jayce took over the role as Beta with the awakening of his wolf, three years later, when he turned eighteen. The night before his eighteenth birthday, the boys decided to have a camp out on their back yard. While laying on sleeping bags around a small fire, listening to a scary story that Corinthian was reading out of an old book they had found in the pack house attack, Jayce suddenly sat straight up and froze. Corinthian paused the story mid sentence, watching his friend curiously, and asked Jayce, "you good man?" Johnny looked up at his older brother, and spoke his name in a questioning tone, "Jayce?"

Jayce blinked a few times and looked between Corinthian and Johnny. "Uh, yeah, sorry fellas, I guess we lost track of time!" both Corinthian and Johnny just looked at him with confusion etched into their faces. "It's middnight!" Jayce Continued. "How do you know that?" Johnny asked. "My wolf just woke up! Said his name was Suade. Wished me a happy birthday. Asked if i was ready for my first shift?" Both of the Corinthian's and Johnny's eyes lit up as they half raised themselves off of the ground and dove toward Jayce, tackling him backwards into the grass. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROTHER!" They both shouted at him. Jayce laughed at their antics, "Thanks guys, now if you dont mind, get off me so y'all can meet suade too!" The boys backed themselves off of the dog pile they had layered Jayce under, sat back on their knees and waited for Jayce to have his first shift.

The boys waited and watched patiently, as the sounds of Jayce's bones begain cracking and popping. Jayce wanted to scream out on pain, but could only manage a guttural growl to escape from his through as it began to transform. His clothing tore at the seems and fell to the ground as his body elongaged and grew. He rolled around on the ground trying desperately to alleviate the itching sensation as hairs begain sprouting out all over his body. Shaking his head as his human teeth retracted, his canines pushing out in their place. The hairs on his back raised, the toes on his paws spread as wide as he could extend them as his human fingernail thickened, became sharp and point and grew outward.

It felt to Jayce like it was taking hours for the transformation to be completed, but it had only actually been a few minutes. Corinthian and Johnny remained still, giving Suade a moment to catch his barings unsure if Jayce first shift was completed. Without warning, suade stood up on all fours and lunged into the small gap between his Alpha and little brother. knocking them both sideways, and clamped his large mouth around the boot on Corinthian's left foot.

The bite didn't hurt Corinthian, but had surprised and confused him. "Ugh, what the hell Suade!" Corinthian called out. Suade quickly released his Alpha's foot and backed up, dropping down into his stomach. Looking up at his Alpha, then towards Corinthian's shoe, before returning his gaze to his Alpha face. A hushed pained filled whimper escaping him. Corinthian looked down at his own foot. The rubber along the bottom of his brown boot that Suade had mauled was slightly melted down and had a smeared layer of black soot.

Corinthian looked at his best friends wolf, "Thanks man! I was so hyper focused on you that I didn't even realize how close my foot was to the fire!" Are you hurt?" Suade blinked and shook his large furry head. trying to pretend that the stinging on his tounge wasn't over baring. Neither of the boys were fooled by Suades performance. Corinthian sent out a mind link to Jayce's parents to come quick.

Moments later, Corinthian was explaining to Jayce's parents about what had happened as they knelt beside their son, each with a hand on Suades back. "Oh my sweet baby boy, how very brave of you! Are you alright?" His mother coddled. "I am sure he will be okay, sweet heart, but i'll send a link to the pack doctor to come by and got him checked out, just in case."

Every one had gotten up off of the ground. Corinthain and Johnny worked together, snuffing out the fire and collecting their things, before they all went back into the pack house to wait for the pack doctor to show up. Luckily, the boys regular doctor had the night off, and was at home only a few short blocks away, it didnt take long before there was a knock at the door. The doctor came in carrying his large, heavy medical bag. Corinthian took the bag from the doctor and lead him over to where Suade was, with the rest the Beta Family in the living room. Corinthian set the doctor's bag down on the coffee table and stepped aside. After being given the story of what had happened, the doctor began his work in giving suade a thorough check up.

Corinthian and Johnny waited quiet, standing together off to the side of the living room, a worried gleam in both of their eyes. finally when the doctor was finished, he stood up and room a deep breath. "Beta and Mrs. Beta," He Addressed them, before turning to look and the boys, "Alpha, Johnny," He added, before turning back to Jayce's parents. "I have some good news and some bad news," He paused. Every one remained sighlent, waiting for him to continue. "Bad news first is always better, I believe." After another deep breath he continued again. " It seems that Jayce's Wolf", " The boys interrupted, "Suade!" Johnny said. The doctor turned and gave him a confused look, "Jayce's wolf, his name is Suade!" Corinthian explained. The doctor gave the boys a single nod before turning back address Jayce's parents and continued. "Suade hadn't quite completed his transformation before wounding himself, He definitely did a number on his mouth. Now, I am not intirly sure how it will heal or how long the healing process will take, as this is my first experience with a wound happening during a first shift. It could leave scars. I am also unsure if it will have any kind of future effect on him. We will just have to give it time, wait and see. Otherwise, He seems to be in good health." The doctor paused again, waiting for any questions to be asked. "Was that the good news? That he was in otherwise good health." Corinthian asked. "No Alpha, the good news, is that Suade here, will definitely be an amazing Beta for this pack! He hasn't even taken his oath yet, he hadn't even been fully on his wolf form yet, still in pain from the transformation, im sure, this incredible young wolf has already proved himself in his bravery and quick thinking! Judging by the condition of that shoe of yours, your friend here just saved your from a whole lot of pain, and possibly worse!"

Every one in the room looked at suade with awe as he bashfully lowered his head. Corinthian steeped foward and kneeled down in front of Suade. Wrapped his arms around Suade's neck and held him in a heart felt hug, thanking him.

As the doctor packed up his bag, he gave every one directions on what to use if either Suade or Jayce was in any kind of pain, directions on what to look out for as far as infections, and what to use to help the healing process. Everyone thanked the doctor as Corinthian carried the doctors bag. and walked him to his car. Thanking him again, and saying good night, Corinthian watched as the doctor pulled out of the driveway and headed towards his home.

Johnny had ran up stairs to gather clothes for his brother, knowing he would need them when he shifted back. As Corinthian walked back into the house, Jayce was just finishing getting dressed. "You alright brother?" Corinthian asked. "Yeah man, I can feel Suade's pain still, even in my human form, but this mouth wasn't effected." Jayce explained. "Well, that's good, cuz we all know how much you like talking!" His little brother teased. Jayce's Mother huffed and rolled her eyes as she watched her youngest son topple to the floor after being struck by a large couch pillow in the side of his head.
