As she layed, curled up in a ball with her eyes closed, resting her exsausted body, visions of her grandmothers dead body floating into the open ocean, her final words coming through there telepathic link, visions of her two friends being captured, bound and ripped from there homes as they watched there own mother's dead body be floated away, the saddness in their eyes, the guilt of leaving them behind, visions of that one evil siren pointing at her, the fear of being captured, all of it plagued her mind.
Waterlily knew that she would not be able to fall asleep, no matter how tired she was. So after letting her eyes and body rest for a few hours, she uncurled herself from under the shelf and carefully swam back up, out of the deep spot in the water path and back towards the ocean.
Knowing she had been seen by at least one of the killers, Waterlily knew that it would be far to risky to go anywhere near the home she was forced to run away from. But she also didnt know where the killers had come from, who they were, or which direction she could go that would even be safe. She didnt even know if she was safe where currently was, she had to keep moving. Waterlily tried to figure out which direction her parents had swam when they left home for their last hunt, hoping that maybe they were still alive but to far away to mind link with her.
After watching the waters around her for a short while and seeing no signs of other sirens near by, Lily swam out of the water path, into the ocean and in the direction that, she could only hope, would lead her to her parents and the rest of the hunters.
Waterlily kept to places she could easily duck under or hide behind. She swam carefully, always watching in all directions, dashing from one hiding place to another. Living off of seaweed and small fish she came across in the reefs she passed by. Sleeping only in short intervals as she searched for any sign of her people.
As she traveled, Waterlily collected things that she found to fasion herself some weapons. A long stick and a large shark tooth was made into a spear. A thin rock was sharpened into a knife. A tourn and discarded fishing net she untangled and crafted into a carrier. In a sunken ship, she came across a skeleton who no longer had use for his belt. it took her a few minutes to figure out how the buckle worked, but the pockets and loops attached to it made her travles much easier.
Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, still no sign of her parents or her people. Months soon became a year, but Lily would not give up hope. A year floated by quickly, and then another, and another but still she found not even a trace. Traveling for so long alone, Lily became good with direction, using the suns path during the day and the moons glade at night. Paying attention to the migration of the sea creatures she kept track of how long she had been searching.
Six years passed by, still alone, no sign of her parents, no sign of her people, no sign of hope. Sometime around what she knew was close to her twentieth birthday, although still refusing to believe that her parents were dead, she decided that in was time to move on with her life, Waterlily finally stopped her search for them and started a new search for a safe place to live.
Remembering the water path she had hidden in all of those years ago, Lily decided that she wanted to find out what was at the other end of it and swam towards the shallows. The journey back took her a few days, always cautious, always watching all around her, still living with the fear of that awful day long ago haunting her.
Finally she reached the place where she could reach out her arms and touch the ocean floor and the waters surface at the sane time, she knew she was close. Remembering where the water path was, she darted from the rock she was near towards its entrance. She swam to the deep place she had long ago taken shelter in a passed it. She swam to a place where the water path got thinner for a while before widening out again. She swam to an area where a tree had fallen, its branches made an obstacle course for her to get through. She swam to where the water path turned one way and then another and then back again. finally she swam to the end, where the water path fell off the of the edge of the land.
Lily perched herself at the top of the waterfall, looking out and down to the beautiful clear water below. A strange structure sat in the water on the far side. She could see people on the land and around the structure. Watching them for a while, she felt that the people were not evil. Still cautious, Lily took a chance and dove off of the ledge, down the waterfall and into the water below.
Behind the waterfall, Lily found a decent size cave that had a few smaller grottos. Feeling safer then she had felt in a long time, Lilly layed herself down in one of the Grottos, closed her eyes, and was lulled to sleep by the rumble of the waterfall outside of the cave. For the first time in six years, Waterlily allowed herself to sleep for longer then just a few hours. She slept the rest if that day, through the whole night, and into the middle of the following day.
A heavy rumble in her stomach woke Lily up from her long slumber. Feeling well rested but extremely hungry, she left the cave, swam under the waterfall, and out into the lake. Finding food was easy here, the lake had plenty of fish. even some pretty big ones. One decent size fish was more then enough to fill her small stomach. She ate her fill, picked apart the rest and fed it to other smaller fish near by.
Now content, Lily decided to explore a bit. the lake wasn't even a fraction of how vast the ocean was, it was much smaller but it was cozy. She found under water plants and fish she had never seen before. The small colorful rocks along the lake bed made her think of the treasures she used to collect for her father to make jewelry for her and her mother. It mad her sad, but at the same time, it made her feel closer to the good memories she of them.
At the end if the day, Feeling safer then swimming alone in the vast ocean, constantly hiding from the predators and other sirens, having plenty to eat, and a place to rest her head with out as much fear,
Lily decided that this place was where she wanted to stay. At least for now. Lily remained caucious, never swimming too close for the humans or other land creatures to spot her. At night, she would swim just close enough to see the people inside the glass walls, but kept to the darker places is the water where she couldnt be seen.
Lily found the humans to be interesting. They all had different ways that they moved and spoke. Some were very loud while others were quite. Some of them did very strange things, like use the sunshine to change there skin color. In her new home, Lily discovered that there was so many different types of music. She injoyed watching the humans dance in all if the many different ways. Her favorite was when the music was slow, and the humans would cuddle and sway. Occasionally a male human would spin the female human, and remind her of how her father would twirl her mother. Reminded her of home. Reminded her of her loneliness.
