Chapter 21 Noise erupted in the house as individual conversations broke out. Jax took Kristen’s empty wineglass from her hand. “Want another?” he asked as she spoke with Bex. She turned to him for a quick moment, bit her lip, and nodded. He made his way to the kitchen, thinking of that bottom lip and how he wanted to be the one to bite it. “Why is there so much food?” Chase asked as he popped an olive in his mouth. Layla put a bowl of mashed potatoes on the table. “We have a lot of holidays to make up for.” “And you decided to make up for all of them at once?” Jax asked. “I don’t see why we have to make up for anything. If he would have gotten on a plane and bothered coming home in the first place then he wouldn’t have missed a thing,” Brooke said. “Hence no holidays to make up for.”
