I pack away the last of my possessions into the box and take one last look at the office that surrounds me. This office has been my sanctuary for the last 21 years, but from tomorrow it is my son's. Tonight is the Alpha Ceremony, where Nial will be sworn in as the new Alpha in front of the entire pack.

I lock the office door for the last time and make my way down to the hall where Deena, Jules and Mara are busy decorating. Round tables with cream tablecloth's and gold chairs are scattered around the room. Translucent vases filled with black obsidian crystals have been chosen as the centre pieces to represent the Black Orion name of our pack.

'She hasn't really spoken to me about it, I just wish I knew what was going on in that head of hers' Jules expressed to the other two concerned mothers.

'I know Meela really misses her' Mara added.

Sorrow filled Jules' eyes.

'I think deep down Lana must miss Meela too, they've been best friends for the longest time'

Both Mara and Deena rest a hand on Jules' back in comfort.

I clear my throat to make my presence known, feeling incredibly awkward like I had just interrupted a mother's counselling session.

'Do you ladies need any help with anything?'

All three of them turned to face me, Jules had quite clearly been crying.

'Deena, my love, can you come help me with something a moment?

She eyed me suspiciously but followed me outside.

'Was Jules crying about Lana?'

Deena nodded slowly

'Apparently she can't get her to open up, Jules has no idea where her head is at.'

Tapping a finger on my chin it dawns on me that I have been so preoccupied with the Alpha Ceremony that I hadn't been paying enough attention to the ramifications of an adolescent shewolf having her boyfriend snatched away.

'Do you think she'll try anything, you know, dangerous? Is she out for revenge?'

Deena's eyes widen in disbelief.

'I hadn't even thought of that, no, she wouldn't?' she looked panicked now. 'Would she?'

I struggle to believe that Lana would purposefully hurt Nial or Meela, but I'd rather be prepared just in case.

'I think we need to take some preventative measures, I'll have a guard stationed outside each cabin and some stood close by tonight'

Deena nodded approvingly.

'It would be good to know how Jules feels about it, otherwise we might have more than one problem on our hands' she whispered.

She's absolutely right.

'Do you think you could manage to find out somehow?' I ask in the huskiest tone I can muster. She flutters her eyelashes, dazed. I love how after 21 years, I can still have this effect on her.

'I'll see what I can do' she smiles before planting a soft kiss on my lips.

'But you owe me' she turns and walks back into the hall.

Deena

As I stroll back into the hall, Mara and Jules are sat drinking coffee.

'It looks so wonderful' I gush as I pull up a chair next to them. 'Thank you for all your help, I couldn't have done it without you' I smile.

'You're welcome, would you like a coffee?' Mara rose from her chair expectantly.

'Yes please Mara, I'd love one'

She smiled and disappeared towards the back.

Jules sat circling the rim of her coffee cup with her index finger, deep in thought. I took a deep breath before I opened my mouth.

'I think we need to talk'

She looked up from her cup and nodded.

'I understand that Lana is hurting, she loves my son and I know Nial still cares deeply for her, but you know just as well as I do how important a mate bond is'

She sighs heavily.

'I know, in my heart I know that Nial must choose Meela, the Moon Goddess paired them for a reason, it just hurts to see my daughter so torn up'

I took Jules' hand, I can see how difficult this has been for her.

Mara rejoined us with my coffee.

'Thank you Mara'

Mara looked at us both quizzically.

'What did I miss?'

Jules smiles meekly.

'We were just talking about the kids, I know Nial has to choose Meela as his Luna, it's just difficult to watch'

Mara nods in agreement.

'Lana's 18 next week though, she could find her mate really soon' Mara reminds us.

'That's what I'm hoping' Jules admits.

'Well tonight is just the Alpha Ceremony, there will be no talks of the Luna yet. I don't want to make things harder on Lana than they have to be' I reassure Jules.

'Thank you Deana, I really appreciate it' Jules smile reaches her eyes.

I check my watch, it's 2.15pm. I gulp down the last of my coffee.

'Apologies ladies but I still have so much to do, the caterers should be arriving soon so I'll catch you later'

I scurry away in search of Tobias, I'm hopeful that everything will go off without a hitch.

Meela

Sparks of electricity shoot through my body every time Nial touches me. I'm cuddled up close to him on the picnic blanket and he smells like home to me. My wolf is purring with each circular movement his hand makes on my back.

'We could be happy forever with him Meela, forget everything else, he is our mate.'

While Karmen makes a compelling argument, I still worry about Lana.

'What are you thinking?' Nial's voice is soft like velvet.

'Karmen thinks I should just forget about everything else and be with you'

His lips pull up in a sexy sideways smile that exposes his left dimple.

'She's smart and Alistair seems to agree'

He chuckled

'What's so funny?'

'Alistair was just adding amendments to my statement'

I raise a questioning eyebrow. He leaned in close to whisper in my ear.

'Nothing I could possibly repeat out loud in public'

My face glowed crimson and a throbbing ached in my underwear.

'Let go Meela, give in to your urges'

There Karmen goes again, goading me to lower my inhibitions and I feel she might win this time as I cannot stop myself from kissing Nial's tender plump lips. He reacts exactly as we both secretly wanted him to by deepening the kiss and scooping me up so I'm sat on his lap with a knee either side of him. I can feel his arousal pushing against my sweet spot, a growl escapes his throat as my panties moisten.

He stands with me wrapped around his waist and stalks off into the wooded area next to the field. He stopped at a large tree and pushed me up against it. His lips trailed kisses along my kneck and my breathing quickened in excitement.

My thoughts were completely scattered as he continued his assault on all of my senses. All I knew was him.

The rollercoaster falls off the edge as fireworks rip through my body and I climax around his fingers. He holds me firmly against the tree as his lips find mine again. An exchange of energy like I've never felt before flows through our bodies. The pull I've felt towards him ever since turning 18 intensifies.

My jaw swings open as he places me back onto the grown. My legs are still shaking, he grabs me before I fall.

'I'm so happy Meela, I still want you so bad, Alistair is restless. I just want to get tonight over with and then we can be together properly'.

He cups his hand around my cheek.

'Then I can mark you and have my way with you' his eyes danced with desire. My heart thumped and my head was giddy at the thought. Any reservations I had were long gone, this sexy incredible man was mine for the taking and I couldn't wait.

'We better head back and get ready for tonight'

He looked down at my bambi legs and chuckled. He placed a kiss on my forehead.

'You are so beautiful Meela'

He pulled me onto his back and walked off towards the picnic.

'Let's go, Alpha' I teased

A hand swatted my behind as a throaty chortle escaped his lips.

'Almost Alpha' he corrected. 'Reprimanded Alpha if we don't get a move on'

The sun was beginning to set. I let out a sigh.

'Fine, let's go get ready'
